3221725TD Maintenance worker – electrician
We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team and support the electrical infrastructure across our campus to ensure a safe and efficient environment for students, staff and visitors. This role will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Role overview
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems throughout the campus. You will ensure that all electrical systems operate safely, reliably and in compliance with regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults to ensure minimal disruption to campus operations.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations
- Carrying out minor electrical installation works or upgrades as part of campus development projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues, including out-of-hours support as needed.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives by maintaining and improving electrical systems.
- Adhere to the highest standards of health and safety, and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Basic qualifications and skills
- A recognized qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification or equivalent).
- -Proven experience as an electrical maintenance technician, preferably in a commercial or public sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring and safety standards
- – Familiarity with testing and diagnostic equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and contractors.
Desirable qualifications and skills
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy efficient technologies.
- IET Wiring Regulations Certificate 18th Edition (or equivalent).
- – Experience in emergency lighting or fire alarm systems.
A full UK driving license is essential. Participation in an out-of-hours on-call period is required.
