Description
HE Laboratory is located in the UC-Berkelegi Department of Biology and Cells, which includes a large collection of specializations that extend to all levels of regulation and include various living organisms. The same training, along with the unique location of Birkly at the Biomedical Medical Research Center, provides a care environment for the world from the next generation to launch it in a successful profession in biomedical research in academic and industry. The main researcher, Dr. Lynn Ho, received Mac Arthur (Genius Award), researcher at Cerele, HHMI’s teaching staff, who is currently Professor Thomas and Setcy Sebel distinguished at the University of California in Berkeley, and a vital investigator with the Chan-Zuci-Zerberg beginner (CZI).
Development and physiological complexity is not subject to a specific object to the huge number of protein coding genes. In mammals, many non -coded functional elements expand the way genes regulating and diversifying the functional tank. Using genetics/human genome, genetics/genome, cells and molecular biology, select the He-Berkelegian Laboratory of a variety of non-coded functional elements, including transposons and non-encrypted RNAS. Not only unprecedented items provide important development/physiological functions, but also provide us with a unique angle to discover new biological/cellular processes in growth and disease. Combining advanced genome engineering with innovative cell imaging. We have traveled in live body studies to clarify new cellular functions, molecular mechanisms in development and aging. HE laboratory discoveries have been well recognized by publications in prestigious magazines, including nature, science and cells. Currently, there are post PhD openings in two projects.
Transfer in mammal development before planting ~ 40 % of mammal genome stems from transposons, which largely exceeds the abundance of protein genes. While it is historically seen as the deteriorating “parasite” DNA, transposons gives many functional elements of the host genome. These sequences resulted from the old invasion that give new genes regulation mechanisms, the generation of nucrua functions, and the provision of raw materials to innovate genome. Pre -implant breaking embryos is one of the best systems to study the Transposon host reactions, as about 20 % of its text results from the Incavoson incitement. We aim to describe the role of transposons specific in pre -implant embryos.
Transportation in aging and disease while specific transposons are an integral component of host biology, and perhaps most mammary transposons are harmful to hosts, and thus disabled by degenerative mutations and/or post -copying. Interestingly, transposon anomalous incitement in a variety of conditions, including aging, cancer and infection. We aim to investigate the mechanisms inherent in the failure to organize transport during reproductive aging and cancer, and to clarify the effects of transportation interactions of the host that accelerate aging and the promotion of cancer.
Post -PhD responsibilities:
1) POSTDOC will work with PI to develop a project in one of the research directions, to read literature in a comprehensive manner, create appropriate experimental systems, learn important technologies, implement experiments to stimulate the project and conduct data analyzes.
2) POSTDOC will meet with PI on a weekly basis to discuss the results, to develop experimental plans.
2) Postdoc will work with Junior Lab members to direct them on specific experimental techniques.
3) Postdoc will contribute to the laboratory duties, which are distributed equally among all the laboratory members.
