salary: The full -time start salary in the range is usually 29,647 pounds to 31,460 pounds, with a possible time in the post to 35,388 pounds annually.

Summary of the job

This full -time position (35 hours/week) within the College of Medicine and Health, College of Medical Sciences, within the Department of Cancer and Criminal Sciences that supports the research work of Professor Aga Gambus and Dr. Marco Sabonara.

This post is funded by BBSRC for a period of 3 years and the delivery of the UHRF1 protein activity in the frequency of chromatin, most of them in the maturity of Okazaki fragments. The appointed mail holder will work with a cell -free system Xenopus laevis Egg extract. Therefore, the mail holder is expected to get a home office license to work with amphibians.

Technical experience, support and guidance will provide research support. You can oversee a number of technical employees, but even when you do not directly supervise the employees, it is still expected to work as a role model and train others as necessary.

You will need an in -depth understanding of experimental techniques and protocols. The experience of cancer cell models will be better. You will be able to use your in -depth knowledge of advice on procedures, diagnosis and problem solving, and proactively suggest solutions to issues that arise. You may need to work outside regular working hours to accommodate experimental procedures.

In order to use the supplier flexibly, you may have the opportunity to work in various fields of the institute, college, or broader university.

Main responsibilities

The role holder will provide support for the research conducted by Professor Gambus and Dr. Sabonaro using a variety of technologies to include them, but not exclusive:

  • Protein purification
    • Including protein extraction from ColiInsect cells
  • Protein biochemistry
    • Reactions everywhere, and the symmetrical reactions in Xenopus laevisEgg extract
  • Xenopus laevisPreparing egg extract
  • Radio tests using 32P
  • Basic molecular biology techniques
    • Western nashaf
    • DNA cloning
    • Electric gel
  • Writing and updating operations
  • Data processing and management

Person specifications

  • The depth practical knowledge of the technical and scientific methods of the above mentioned above
  • Wide -ranging experience in laboratory -based similar works, along with familiarity with a wide range of laboratory equipment.
  • Extensive experience in the workplace, professional qualifications or equivalent certificate in a suitable topic.
  • GCSE Level 2 (A*- C) or qualified level 2 equivalent in mathematics and English.
  • The positive service position shows a courtesy in dealing with others.
  • The ability to organize and manage private work download and show flexibility in terms of work practices/requirements.
  • The ability to work under the minimum supervision, but work as part of the team.
