About the role

please note: Due to the practical and customer facing nature of this role, this role is site based at the University of Oxford, with no hybrid or remote working options.

  • As an IT Support Administrator, you will provide second line technical support for Windows desktops across the University. Your work will include diagnosing and fixing hardware and software issues, deploying and rebuilding desktops, managing user accounts, and supporting employees remotely or on-site.
  • You will monitor the Service Desk system, resolve or escalate incidents, and ensure accurate logs of hardware, software, and user activities are maintained. The role also involves contributing to technical documentation and staying up to date with IT developments to continually improve the service we provide.
  • This is a customer facing role where you will interact with staff at all levels, requiring excellent communication skills and a professional approach to support. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to specialist projects, such as providing technical support for university examinations.

About you

  • In-depth experience supporting Windows operating systems and desktop/laptop computers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose hardware versus software errors.
  • Understand networking concepts and software applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload, and work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, able to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
