A university museum without walls. Universities groups (UC) is an accredited university museum consisting of historical and contemporary collections – from arts and sciences – found in many sites throughout the campus of the University of Birmingham (UOB). The groups reflect a rich history of ideas, discovery and creativity at the University of Birmingham, which inspires the masses on a local and global stage. From ancient pottery to contemporary sculpture, through anatomical candles, and the noise of African heart and textiles, things in groups play an invaluable social, cultural and educational role.

Role summary

like Learning and participation manager You will play a major role in developing and delivering general participation activities in university campus and other places. You will create and present a vibrant public program with a relevant and new audience with university groups.

As part of a dynamic academic environment, it will cooperate with university employees, students, external partners and creative practitioners. It will ensure that our general participation activity reflects major priorities and projects, supports joint and joint production and provides authentic experiences to enhance general and societal participation.

Teaching and researching with groups is at the core, and will ensure that programs and activities support our work on the campus, but also serve the broader research community and include community research, community participation, and access to fans and new users. This means working with community groups, artists, academics and partner institutions outside UOB.

Our vision is to make learning based on the prevailing things, and enable people all over Birmingham to see things and groups as basic tools to open the capabilities, stimulate ideas and deepen their understanding of themselves, others, and the world.

Person specifications

  • He received his education to the level of certificate (or equivalent qualifications) plus Related practical experience – in the absence of equivalent qualifications, a highly relevant practical experience will be needed in a series of gradually demanding roles.
  • The relevant practical experience to work in a museum, the cultural sector/heritage/creative environment.
  • Understanding a group of fans and public participation through effective programming.
  • Show the ability to manage work programs, provide goals, and contribute to strategic goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to be installed in a wide range of contexts and settings.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across different teams, including those inside and outside the university.
  • Great experience in administrative support in a crowded and developed environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills including interest in details, time management and work on the deadlines.
  • The ability to adapt to new challenges and strong teamwork skills.
  • Show motivation, design and flexibility.
  • Excellent personal skills with the ability to involve a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
