Communications and Media Officer, Francophone Africa – Environmental Justice Corporation

Overview of the situation
We are looking for an official and talented communications and media official with great skills in writing texts, organizational skills and a strong group of media communications and appointed a good story. As the Francophone Telecom and Media Officer in EJF, you will secure widespread media coverage of EJF and its mission, and will develop and provide an ambitious communications and media strategy for EJF projects in Francophone Africa.
This role is suitable for someone with a strong experience in the press or work in a press office, and he has a passion for publishing influential stories that drive progress in the real world for a more sustainable planet.
Main responsibilities:
Developing a network of journalists in a proactive way to secure great media coverage for EJF projects, and improving the quality of the fishing industry coverage in Senegal and West Africa in general.
- Determine and involve the target radio networks of radio programs and support local communities to deal with radio journalists
- Responding to media inquiries and working with colleagues to maximize coverage opportunities
- Coordination of journalists training workshops
- Coordination of press conferences and trips – guaranteeing the proper functioning of private events, including guest speakers and other prominent supporters
- Production of press data, social media content, web pages and other communications outputs such as publications, banners and stickers.
- Planning, developing and implementing the agreed communication strategies with a main focus on Senegal, as is required and agreed upon, with regard to EJF activities in African -speaking African countries.
- Promoting project movies and radio programs for both national media and in local display activities
- Ensure that all communication materials are compatible with the brand of EJF
- Ensure full and realistic accuracy of all the information published
- Preparing detailed monthly reports, including all media coverage, with highlighting challenges and opportunities
This position requires regular work trips inside Senegal and accidental trips can be seen inside and outside the region.
Basic skills and qualities:
Experience in work within a media/journalist team with an excellent process of media scene in Senegal, and from an ideal point of view, in the wider West and Central Africa. Current contacts are an advantage
- A strong news sense and the ability to transfer complicated messages to multiple fans, including local fishing communities
- The ability to produce an inspiring and audited version of printing and online
- A scientific degree or equivalent experience in the field of communications, media, journalism, public relations, or a similar field
- A busy record in delivering projects with the minimum supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in the French and lofty languages ​​(strong feature), and master the English language in writing and speaking
- Woody and quiet under pressure
- Urban, flexible, persistent and cooperative in your approach
- Interested in environmental and human rights issues
Desired skills:
Experience in working within the TV or radio media, including operating the camera and conducting the recorded interviews.
- Previous experience in working on environmental issues or fish traps.
