The Engineering Services Department (ES) provides facilities services for engineering services to UNC Chapel Hill Campus, which is a very university campus with a large number and a variety of buildings and structures. ES provides engineering experience for all engineering aspects of the campus. ES is responsible for developing projects for all university engineering projects including reform, renewal and new construction; Capital budget management and design contract management related to these projects. In addition, ES is responsible for developing high engineering design standards on the campus, designing engineering systems, examining all projects that were implemented in campus buildings, engineering support for construction services employees, leading energy management and water conservation efforts, and building commissioning services.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline related to the field of mission; Or an equivalent mix of training and experience. Some positions may require a license from the North Carolina State Council for Engineers and Surveyors. All grades of adopted institutions should be received appropriately.

Great knowledge of the theory of professional engineering, technologies, practices, procedures, construction symbols, laws and skills in its application to solve problems, system design, and determine energy conservation opportunities. Comprehensive knowledge of the symbols, standards and governmental and federal regulations that govern the engineering program. Experience in engineering design and construction practices. The ability to review designs, explain all relevant plans and specifications, estimate costs, direct others technically and review and evaluate their work. Practical knowledge of federal and state regulations and the local government that governs the design and building of buildings and land development. The ability to deal with multiple project management with specified completion dates and budget restrictions. Exceptional knowledge of NC electric code. Oral and writing skills are excellent. Registration as a professional engineer in North Carolina state at the beginning of the work. The ability to direct others technically, create and maintain effective business relationships. Strong personal relationship skills. Good leadership and basic financial management skills. At least seven years of progressive experience in the design and management of engineering projects. Knowledge of research and specialized laboratory facilities, and energy quality issues for these types of spaces. Comprehensive knowledge of university practices, procedures and operations. Previous experience working with the North Carolina State Building Office (NCSCO(North Carolina University’s Office)NCSO).
