The intersections between German Jewish history and British history at the Liu Pike Institute in London

location: London, hybrid

The LEO BAECK Institute in London seeks to employ a post -doctorate colleague to conduct research on intersections and intertwining between German and British history, including the British Empire, with a specific topic of their choice. This is the 0.5 FTE position, one year lasts.

Role description:

The post -PhD researcher will contribute to understanding the cultural, social and intellectual exchanges between German Jewish immigrants and British society, especially in the context of immigration, exile, and the effects of the Holocaust. This role aims to enhance the profile and scope of the institute’s activities and encourage new cooperation, publications and awareness initiatives. The researcher will also be associated with BBCBIC, University of London, as an honorary researcher.

About the institute:

The Liu Pike London Institute is the Institute of Research devoted to the study of German -Jewish history, with a special focus on the period from the nineteenth century to the present day. As the leading institution in its field, the institute carries a set of initial sources, providing researchers resources to explore the history of German -speaking Jews in Europe. In addition to its archives, the institute hosts lectures, seminars and exhibitions, and encouraging dialogue between academics, students and the broader audience. LBI London is committed to expanding the scope of access to its groups and strengthening the scientific investigation in German history and culture.
