Post -PhD/Fellow Researcher (fixed period) at the University of Nottingham

As part of this commitment, the school calls for the requests of a post -PhD researcher in the post -term period to join the future leadership project in the future “building climate colonization: history, knowledge and materials in climate adaptation in South Africa.”

The purpose of this role will be to support Dr. Matthew Hanaford in the Fellowship of Ukrai’s Leadership Fellowship, “Climate Colonies Building: History, Knowledge and Article for Climate Adaptation in South Africa.” This fellowship is an ambitious and transient project on the emergence, development and continuous forms of climate colonies in South Africa, especially the west of Zimbabwe, South Mozambique and South Malawi. It aims to build a new pastable past from the climate, colonial marginalization and the local agency by relying on various archive groups and oral history. Through joint production with project partners and local stakeholders, another major goal is to determine the methods of integrating these dates in planning insight to push adaptation with fair and sustainable climate change.
The appointed will develop, conduct and publish the work on the training of (Trans) of climate -related knowledge and practices in southern Malawi during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They will also form and contribute to joint workshops in the project. The situation provides an exceptional opportunity for the individual who aims to lead multidisciplinary research and high influence through cooperation with prominent researchers in this field. The successful candidate is expected to meet regularly with other members of the project and will be asked to travel in the United Kingdom and internationally for data collection, joint production and publishing activities.
The candidate will have a doctorate (or is about to end) in history, geography, or a related area. The experience of preserved and/oral history research is necessary, as is the case in the history of research in African history and/or the history of the environment/climate. The candidate must have a busy record for publication in this field. The efficiency of a multidisciplinary team and written and spoken communication skills are excellent necessary. Knowledge of languages ​​related to the project area is very desirable.
This post is available full time and a specified period for 30 months.
