Developing new technology to explore the life of bees at Sheffield University

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will develop a new way to track aviation insects that will revolutionize environmental science and help in contrast to the decrease in polls.

We will use our way to explore Bumblebee’s behavior, navigation and use of landscapes to better understand insect perception. The total grant covers the development of Microbattery. Aerobic design field trials and cognitive modeling. You will focus on machine learning, but you will participate in all fields. There are also opportunities to spin. The team has extensive experience in studying Bumblebee’s behavior near the nest (1) But to better understand feed, we need the landscape level details. The direction of the project can be customized, but it can include the development and application of Bayesian ML approaches to conclude the path; Enter sensors; Classification of behavior; Active learning restricted to resources; Other Internet Applications; The development of microbial, field trials, and airline analysis.

Biological Supervisor

I have been working in the Bayesian ML field for 10 years, focusing on real world applications and developed many insect tracking techniques. In addition to an opportunity to conduct multidisciplinary research (with collaborators in EXATER, Sussex, etc.), you will gain experience and skills in high -end areas such as ML and AI.

Candidate requirements

The minimum 2: 1 university stage (BSC/Beng) and/or qualifications for graduate studies (MSC/MENG) on STEM theme, by the start of a doctorate.

The candidate must:

  • Comfortable with engineering/partial math.
  • Be ready to participate in field work.
  • You have experience in programming.

If the English language is not your first language, you must have IELTS 6.5 degree in general, with at least 6.0 per component.

Funding notes

This doctoral class will cover standard tuition fees in the United Kingdom and provide tax -exempt (20,780 pounds for the academic year 2025/26) for a period of 3.5 years.
