Overview of the departments

The College of Press at the University of California in Berkeley is one of the best press programs in the United States and is home to the pioneering California News Fellowship program, the largest program for the public sector funded in the country.

The school offers a master’s degree in the press for two years to register about 120 students at one time and a minor in the press serving 300 other students. The school’s focus is on mastering a wide range of communication technologies with learning the highest standards of responsible and adventure press. There are approximately 15 faculty members of the Senate, faculty at the school and more than 20 working journalists working as lecturers. The school employs approximately 30 vocational employees who run the academic jobs of the school as well as auxiliary programs.

Summary of the situation

The director of the news group will join our small program team, which focuses on supporting journalists early in his career and local news rooms. This position will provide support for the editing of colleagues, building and maintaining relationships with their newsroom editors. With the program team, the director of the news group will play an important role in selecting future colleagues and news rooms, ensuring an extraordinary colleague experience, leading a strong training and guidance program, and ensuring an effective partnership with the hosting means throughout the state.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the selection and matching news rooms and colleagues in the California local news fellowship program.
  • Partners with the program team to design and manage comprehensive fellowship experience.

  • Designs and implementation of the editorial support provided by the fellowship for colleagues, and work closely with the newsroom editors.

Required qualifications
