About the role:

Work inside Institute of Religion and Critical InvestigationResearch Fellow/Fellow Research (historical and regular theology) will conduct distinguished research as a member of the program in religion and theology. The field of specialization will be widely lies in contemporary theology, with a focus on historical and systematic theology, and the Catholic theology depicting a residence. The program of religion and theology is home to historical and methodological theology, philosophical theology, the philosophy of religion, Christian spirituality, the thought and Catholic practice, and the Catholic intellectual traditions. Many of our multidisciplinary work seeks to link historical theological traditions and texts with contemporary facts. Examples of our current international research projects include “Catholic theology” and “The Theology participating in art”. The recently concluded research projects include “spiritual understanding in the secular era: the involvement of art as religious rituals”; “Recovering self -judgment: agency, weakness, and relationship.” Our research symposium series will explore in 2026 the contemporary theology of sin and salvation. Research colleague/research colleague (historical and systematic theology) will contribute to research and teaching at the institute, faculty and university members. We are looking for applicants who have research experience in both the widespread historical theology, as well as the clear ability to develop historical theological sources in dialogue with contemporary issues. We are also looking for candidates with educational experience and communication skills.

Research Fellow/Fellow Research (historical and systematic theology) will conduct his own research, which leads to high -quality publications and is expected to follow functional development in other areas of research activity including supervision of research students, external grants applications, and participation and influence activities. In order to help the successful applicant in developing a competitive research profile to attract external financing, additional search time will be provided for the first two years of appointment (70 % of research / 20 % of teaching / 10 % service), with the possibility of additional search time in the third year. After that point, in the absence of other considerations such as external financing, a standard work mix will be applied in one line for the application at the time.

The applicants will work collectively and cooperatively to build their research and teaching profiles and contribute to the team’s projects in their fields of specialization and through the traditional disciplinary limits as necessary. They are expected to contribute to the cooperative activities of the program, including seminars, reading groups and workshops. They are also expected to contribute to the collective and scientific life of the broader institute and faculty. The Institute includes Christian theologians, early Christianity, the Bible and Religious Studies, and we expect that the applicants will be motivated to join a society of scientists interested in enhancing and preserving talks between these different disciplines.
