The German Historical Institute is looking for London Associate researcher With the research interest in the history of the Middle Ages (with a focus on the history of the late English) to occupy a part -time project to start February 1, 2026.

About your role:

This is it Fixed contract for 24 months for part -time position (32 hours/week) As part of the project “Money, History, and Ethical Economics: Communications of Cash Information Institutional History of the subsequent Middle Ages (1250-1530)” funded by the German Research Corporation (DFG).

The annual salary ranges between 53,284.80 pounds and 54,508.80 pounds Depending on professional experience. The place of employment is London, with mobile jobs.

Responsibilities:

It is expected that: the successful candidate:

  • Conduct academic research on specific case studies within the framework of the comprehensive project (see https://www.ghil.ac.uk/research/Project-meer-dg) And contribute to the project database.
  • Organizing an academic conference and coordination of the publication of a folder edited based on the procedures.
  • Help promotes the project for a broader audience.
  • The research experience related to the project topic is desirable.

About you:

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • Doctorate degree in Middle Ages (presented by the time of the interview; VIVA VOCE may still be suspended)
  • They are installed in the history of the English language in the late Middle Ages
  • Efficiency in dealing with manuscripts and printed sources
  • Knowing the Latin and medium English language

In principle, the salary is subject to tax in Germany; The only exception is British citizens who do not have German nationality as well.
