The goal of this post:
To proactively help librarians to reach the library’s resources, services and facilities and use them to support their educational activities, education and research; To support positively to develop and deliver these services and resources.
All library assistants are members of the customer services team who provide welcome and knowledgeable lines service for users and employees. Library assistants are appointed to provide custom support in one or more service portfolios that currently include: Point Point & Outreach; Teaching and learning; Scientific Communications and Research; Library systems; Content management and descriptive data; Clinical support; Heritage groups.
The RCSI Library supports personal and vocational development for all team members. Library assistants participate in regular and continuous training and development related to their roles, giving them the best library users.
The post -pregnant center will be at the RCSI Library, 26 York Street.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Providing an excellent customer service at all times by providing a welcome, supportive and effective service to all library users.
• Providing support and assistance to the internal and external library customers, by phone, by e -mail and through the Internet, to access and use information resources and services provided by the library.
• Support the delivery of virtual and imposed information offices and roaming/roaming duties to the library to answer and solve inquiries and conduct appropriate referrals to other resources and services, internally and externally, to meet the needs of customers.
• Maintaining the library environment, including shelves books, arranging library resources, monitoring space and ensuring commitment to library and university policies.
• Providing custom support in one or more areas of the service portfolio that currently includes: Point Point & Outreach; Teaching and learning; Scientific Communications and Research; Library systems; Content management and descriptive data; Clinical support; Heritage groups.
• Providing classroom -based assistance online to educational libraries secretaries, learning and others by providing basic preliminary training sessions and assisting practical assistance in other sessions.
• Supporting the colleagues of the library’s assistant in preparing content and materials to train libraries.
• Development and maintenance of library services that are delivered electronically including, but not limited to, RCSI institutional warehouse, library website, internet catalog, electronic portal, Libguards, Moodle and Library Communication channels.
• Use of library management systems, such as Alma, Proservica and Calm, to carry out a set of administrative and processing tasks.
• Implementing administrative duties, including, but not limited to collecting and producing regular statistics, documenting procedures and assisting data collection for use and monitoring reports.
• Contribute to planning, development, marketing and promotion of library services.
• Contribute to promoting library services in the main university events.
• Communicate proactively with university support services to ensure timely reporting and resolving cases arising from the university support service.
• Participate in the teams/activities of the internal library project as necessary.
• Attending the team meetings and communicating effectively with colleagues.
• Conducting appropriate employee development programs, keeping pace with new resources, information and new service offers.
• Compliance with legal legislation, department rules and requirements in enhancing the care and safety of your general corners.
• Representing the best RCSI interests and library at all times.
• A flexible approach is required for the duties of the post and take other duties as necessary.
Person specifications:
The successful candidate will perfectly possess and appear:
necessary
• Related qualifications from the third level and/or related experience as an assistant library in a similar environment.
• Excellent customer service spirit and customer care skills.
desirable
• IT and powerful applications application skills including Microsoft Office; Very desirable to have experience in specialized systems, including any of the following:
- Library management system, preferably pain;
- Social media tools;
- Practical knowledge of search platforms, including research and interrogating information environments online.
- Research warehouse, preferably Figshare;
- An online learning program;
• Practical knowledge of document supply services such as the British Library and/or Subito is desirable.
• Show assembly management skills such as indexing and stock stocks are desirable.
• Evidence of a flexible approach to work and willingness to accept change and adapt to it.
Excellent personal skills and the ability to communicate in an effective way.
• The ability to multiply tasks, work quietly under pressure, carefully perform work and pay attention to details.
• Show a strong commitment to continuous professional development.
• The ability to achieve results.
• The ability to work on the person’s initiative as well as in the team’s environment.
