The Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invites requests for doctoral sites in the Business Statistics Group in the department.

Why join the doctoral program?

It provides a doctorate program in founding training business statistics in mathematical statistics and its applications on areas such as finance, economics and data science. Students benefit from close guidance and advanced research opportunities with internationally recognized faculty members. The main research fields include our faculty members Standard Financial Economy, high -dimensional statistics, automatic learning, educational statistics, preservative theory and random operations.

Our doctoral program includes MPHil for a period of two years with courses aimed at building a strong foundation for independent research and a 3 -year doctoral stage that focuses on academic research and thesis writing.

Who are we looking for?

We encourage students with a strong background in Mathematics, theory of possibilities and statistics To advance. Although the prior knowledge of financing and economics is not required, interest in statistical models applications of such fields is plus.

Our MPHil and PHD students receive a tax -exempt salary of $ 19,135 per month. Excellent candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for Hong Kong Fellowship Plan. The required documents include a letter of motivation, biography, records of records, gradient certificates, research suggestion, 1-3 academic messages for recommendation, and proving efficiency in the English language (TOEFL/IELTS) and uniform test results (GMAT or GRE).
