Job title
An opening of a post -doctoral researcher to work with Dr. Ashley Thial in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. The successful candidate will conduct advanced research that is achieved near the effective weather data to improve the guidance of bridges after rainfall. The recent rains in Indiana was washed, which broke the transportation networks and loss of lives. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides information about the effective weather that merges data from radar, rain standards, satellites, numerical predictions, and other notes (i.e. lightning, surface, upper air). This research will investigate the use of these available data for the public to launch the bridge inspections, with the aim of improving public safety.

A post -doctoral researcher will join a vibrant team of scientists at the kinetic structure laboratory. This research is funded by the Indiana Ministry of Transport and will include a great interaction with Indot employees, which provides unique opportunities for professional development. Funding is available for technical conferences.

Required qualifications
Doctorate in structural engineering, hydrology or data science.
