From the main species and landscape restoration projects, to managing our network of wildlife reserves and campaigns for nature, we work in wildlife in Scotland. Role:

This role requires an outdoor work individual, with experience in mammal control work, and is friendly and enjoys interacting with people. The observation and monitoring official will contribute to the monitoring program to inform the strategic decisions, and aims to control the gray squirrel to protect the main population from red squirrels in Scotland. Activities are carried out according to the Saving Scotland Red Squirrels Plan to protect red Sinbra in priority landscapes via the highland line.

The main responsibilities and duties include:

  • Control of gas species: Implementing control of the targeted and strategic gray squirrel in the agreed areas according to the standard operating procedures for the SSRS project, as well as training new volunteers.
  • Survey and Monitoring: Development and coordination of a network of fast response monitoring, including employing, training and supporting a network of volunteers, and identifying species through the combed squirrel hair samples.
  • Report: Collect and maintain high -quality precise monitoring and monitoring records.
  • General participation: In support with the team, it helps in raising the level of the project’s goals for volunteers, landowners and external partners in ways to monitor and discover the relevant gray squirrel to increase sustainability and long -term flexibility for the support and controlled control efforts.

Successful candidate:

  • Owning the SVQ/NVQ 2 level or equivalent to managing the game, wildlife, relevant discipline, or related experience in maintaining the game, controlling gas/non -original mammals, or pest control.
  • Ideally, you have a good understanding of the principles of memorization, practices and legislation as well as the ability to maintain accurate records in Word and Excel.
  • You have previous professional or voluntary experience, along with experience working with landowners, gaming hunters, forests and public. Knowledge of the types of forests, original trees and familiarity with the eastern Angus area will be useful.
  • Be ready to work from time to time from normal working hours.
  • It has a full clean driver’s license.
