IWMI Lagancer: II Research Officer – Scaling Solar in Agriculture (closing date: October 9, 2025)
International Water Management Institute (IWMI) He seeks to recruit a research employee (II) contributes to the implementation of the solar energy project for the second stage of the second stage of energy in Kenya. The job operator will support research, stakeholders’ participation, capacity building, policy analysis, enabling technical assistance to the environment, and spread knowledge, focusing on enabling the responsibility responsible for climate male solutions, including solar energy systems for agriculture.
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is an international non -profit research organization, which serves a global mandate for improving water and land management for food, livelihoods and nature. IWMI is one of 15 research centers supported by the International Agricultural Research Consulting Group (CGIAR).
key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the design and implementation of research on solar energy systems for agriculture including irrigation, cold storage, drying and agricultural treatment.
- Contribute to data collection and analytical work, including policy analysis and the private sector, drawing stakeholders and enabling environmental assessments to direct solar solutions to agriculture.
- Conducting an analysis to identify political restrictions, knowledge, finance, and opportunities to expand the scope of solar innovations in agriculture.
- Support IWMI providing technical assistance to government institutions, the private sector, organizational bodies, and the implementation of partners to identify organizational and political bottlenecks, address their priorities, and hinder the limitation of water innovations.
- Communicating with the government, the private sector, farmers ’groups and development partners to collect ideas and enhance partnerships about the damage responsible for solar solutions in agriculture.
- Helping in building capacity and training for stakeholders and experimenting with solar innovation packages and institutional models through various methods such as live laboratories, hacking and partnerships between the public and private sectors.
- Contributing to communicating with research work by preparing and publishing working papers, policys, technical reports, magazine publications, conference papers, posters, brochures, and presentations in politics forums.
- Performing any other related duties as needed.
The minimum requirements:
education:
- Master’s degree in political science, innovation systems, agricultural economics, water resources management, environmental studies, development studies, human geography or other relevant field.
expertise:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience after graduation, perfectly in the research of agricultural food systems that include water management and (or) renewable energy.
- At least from 2-3 years of experience in applied research, it is preferable to be in innovation systems or scaling smart climate solutions.
- The ability and expertise showed literature, data collection, data analysis, and high -quality output generation, that is, scientific reports and publications.
skills:
- The ability to create and maintain professional communications, and interact with a wide range of actors from the government, international organizations, development partners and other stakeholders.
- Microsoft Office efficiency and statistical/ qualitative analysis programs (EG, Stata, R, Nvivo).
- Good regulatory skills and ability to work with minimal supervision showed.
- Experience in working with CGIAR, government ministries or international development organizations.
- Experience to facilitate and coordinate the partnerships of multiple stakeholders in agricultural business and irrigation, sex and youth listing issues
- Understanding the landscape of agricultural policy and energy in East Africa has shown.
- The ability to use statistical analytical techniques.
