Prince Robert City is currently recruiting up to two (2) for full workers to join our team in the public works sector in the Operations Department. Upon reports to the Operations Department, the successful candidate will perform manual workers and run all equipment for public works. Listed on the last page of this post is an annex of work.
This position will require the applicant to be able to perform duties in negative working conditions, and he has specialized skills and without direct supervision. The operator should be aware of the techniques of drilling, risk and traffic traffic flows to reduce the risk of infection and property/equipment damage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all aspects of the water infrastructure/wastewater, as well as installing and maintaining civil infrastructure including concrete, bottom, and other specific duties. This position is sensitive to attendance and is required for additional work and the weekend when calling as a operational terms.
What you will bring
required:
- Dogwood Diploma or GED;
- Category 3 driving license with the support of the air brakes;
- At least 2000 hours and ingenuity experience with all equipment in the II operator classification according to the hours listed by ITA Heavy Equipment Pathway “Challenge Path” or a certificate from a recognized heavy equipment training institution;
- You should be able to understand verbal reporting and inform it through the report written in the English language and accept and understand verbal instructions;
- Water Distribution Player 1 EOCP Certificate;
- Sewerage collection worker 1 EOCP Certificate; and,
- Chlorine processor certificate.
The required certificates (if not the current, within two years):
- Whmis certificate;
- Certified Survey Certificate;
- A traffic control certificate will be required;
- Emergency first aid level 1;
- II water distribution operator – EOCP Certificate;
- I am water treatment – EOCP Certificate; and,
- II wastewater group – EOCP Certificate.
Fitness requirements:
- You should be able to perform heavy manual tasks for long periods in all weather conditions;
- The physical ability to stand frequently and walk throughout the day and climbing inside and outside the trenches and trenches while attending work sites;
- It should be a clean throat to enable the artificial respiratory system to wear according to WorkSafe BC, and for a test that suits the full face breathing;
- This position is physically hard and sometimes required, which requires the employee to be in good physical condition; and,
- The heavy equipment/organisms of the work, withdrawal and management are part of the designated tasks and must be able to deal with weight up to 100 pounds and are able to raise 40 lbs.
What will you do?
- Capable of following safe work practices;
- Run all heavy equipment in an organized, effective, safe and sound way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures;
- Required to complete the player’s record accurately;
- Cash judgment and confidence in decision -making requires along with the complex instructions.
- Full understanding of water/wastewater, any function for all parts and materials from tanks to fall;
- Wide knowledge of maintenance and construction practices for public works, which include the use of equipment, materials and methods used in maintenance, construction and reform activities for municipal work, including, but not limited to, facilities, roads, sanitation and parks;
- Great skill, experience and understanding in the appropriate and safe operation of tools and equipment, such as but not limited to, gaps, tractors, pumps, manual tools, trees, mills, scripts, choice, broom, weed eaters, garbage tools, electricity or air required tools;
- Good knowledge of roads, practices, materials, tools and equipment used to finish concrete and asphalt on roads, sidewalks, restrictions, maintenance and related construction projects;
- The ability to understand and work is a sign of linear and written instructions;
- The ability to perform work in vehicles, equipment and pedestrian movement and around them;
- The ability to work independently or in the team’s environment and accomplish tasks and tasks;
- The ability to deal with tact, polite and accurate with the public and its colleagues;
- A comprehensive knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, standards and specifications showed, including Worksafe BC, and municipal regulations and policies related to the water and water facilities issued.
- The ability to work with the minimum supervision is necessary; and,
- Other duties as required.
Other information you should know
- Work schedule and working hours: 8 hours a day between 5:00 am and 5:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, with a paid meal break. This position may be needed to work in a periodic work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday when necessary. One week (1) notice will be given when the transformation changes or when the two parties are admitted mutual.
- If you are not a local request, you should be ready to move to Prince Robert, BC before starting work. The city can financially help transportation costs;
- You must be qualified to work in Canada;
- Driving Category 3 BC with the support of the air brakes; and,
- This will be asked to obtain a RCMP criminal record and check the weak sector. The city’s results will be reviewed to ensure employment eligibility.

Wage: $ 43.92 per hour; In addition, installments are applicable to each collective agreement
