Assistant researcher in cell biology (genetic interlocking paralysis) (fixed term) at the University of Cambridge
Applications are invited to obtain an enthusiastic and committed high studies research assistant to join a team looking at cell biology for a group of neurological cases called hereditary paralysis. This project is located in the Professor Ivan Reed collection at the Cambridge Medical Research Institute and is funded for a period of not less than one year. It will fit with a modern biological graduate who wants to get more experience in the practical laboratory before embarking on a PhD.
The project aims to understand the functions of genetic interlocking paralysis proteins in the molecular causing a nervous axis. Work in the interface between cell biology (especially membrane movement) and molecular neuroscience will be focused on artificial functional genetic girl and stimulant sorting (FACS) using IPSC neurons from IPSC from HSP. The laboratory uses an integrated approach that combines the latest technician cell biology, biochemistry, proteins, functional genes, and neuromus derived from stem cells. We aim to produce high -quality research that affects our field and stands to test time. The Cambridge Medical Research Institute is a center of excellence with a strong focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of the disease, with the aim of translating basic discoveries into clinical meaningful treatments. Candidates must have experience in molecular cell biology or molecular neuroscience, and the time of appointment must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biological, Chemical, or Biomatic Sciences. The previous research experience will be very desirable, especially if it is in one of the following areas; Stem cell culture and nervous distinction, FACS, fixed microscope or immunotherapy to live cells, connection Lentiviral from RNA or DNA of farm cells, editing CRISPR-CAS. Some knowledge of programming language like R or Python will be valuable.
Applicants will work under practical supervision of a post -PhD researcher to achieve the goals of this project. They are expected to work within an interactive group, have a friendly and college look, and have good written and oral communication skills, to be a good organization and have the ability to work calmly to fulfill the final dates.
