Satyam Calon PhD in Trinity Laban Conservatory for Music and Dance

Trinity Laban accepts new doctoral fund requests in partnership with Satyam Kalon. The program is a pioneering cooperation between academics, artists and students from the leading arts institutions in India, the United Kingdom and the United States. It includes a multidisciplinary team of art historians, dancers, musicians and philosophers from the Attakkalari Action Arts Center in Bangalore at Columbia University in New York, the KM Music Institute in Chennai, and the University of Chef Nadar in Delhi and Trinity Laban in London. This international team will work together to explore the interactions between dance, music and visual art in a context across the national, with a focus on philosophy as well as theory and practice.

Finance and eligibility

Three prizes are available for Satyam Kalon PHD for applicants in PhD music creative practiceand Doctorate dance creative practice and PhD music/ art history to January 2026 entrance:

  • Successful applicants will receive a value of 30,000 pounds (7500 pounds annually for a maximum of 4 years).
  • The money will be used towards the cost of the annual tuition fees.
  • If the tuition fees are covered by another source (such as student loans), the funds can be used for living expenses.
  • Successful applicants will be qualified for a travel grant to finance a research trip to India to support their studies during the 2026/27 academic year.

Eligibility

  • To register in January 2026 (requests will also be considered for postponed entry in September 2026).
  • To register in a full -time study on the research degree program.
  • Available for home or international students.

Research context

PhD proposals must focus on interactions and parallels between Indian and Western technical forms and exploring the intersection of Western and Indian theory. Research candidates will support the spirit of international cooperation in the research program and show this through their work. For a doctorate in creative practice, we invite applications from composers, artists, dance designers or dance artists; Only in the applications of active practitioners in music and dance. For the PHD Music History Award, we invite students from academic background students in the history of art and/ or music, as this award will only present a doctorate.

Selection and application

PhD/ art history applications must apply through the Cooperative Arts Path to UCAS.

Search proposals from California. You must download 1500 words dealing with the context of the search above to start, along with the ranking references and other specific application information. Priority in the evaluation will be given for excellent research proposals that describe the possible new projects that deal with the context of the announced research and B) closely identical to the supervisory specializations in Trinity (and others).

Supervision and seminars

Successful applicants will be appointed Two supervisors It consists of Trinity Laban faculty and external supervisors who have been specially chosen with experience in the specified research context. The supervisors are currently confirmed by the program: Professor Jonathan Clark (Head of Research and Knowledge, Trinity Laban); Dr. Naomi Levfar Cell (co -manager – dance, Trinity Laban); Professor Ann Ravid (distinguished professor Fakhry, Bonn University); Dr. Charlotte de Mail (Cortold Institute of Art).

Satyam Kalon will present a vibrant and innovative symposium series in London, Dehli and Online, which is presented by prominent academics who cover philosophy, creative practice, ethnic science and art history, which will form an integral part of the study experience for students in the program.
