Fixed term: 36 months (with a possible extension to 48 months)
We are looking for an early, talented and ambitious professional researcher to work on the “numerical analysis of AI stable” project with funding from an advanced grant from the European Research Council.
Opportunity:
This position will be dedicated after the doctorate to research the algorithms in artificial intelligence (AI) from the perspective of numerical analysis and mathematical mathematics. The comprehensive goal of the project is to develop a new theory and mathematical algorithms to identify, measure and quantity, and wherever it is possible, reduce the experienced weaknesses that are experimentally in the current artificial intelligence systems. The project is headed by Professor Dest Hayam at the College of Mathematics at Edinburgh University, and will take advantage of the links with EPCC (formerly the parallel computing center in Edinburgh), the Wooing AI Laboratory, and the Future Technology Center.
A successful candidate will contribute to both theoretical analysis and account experimenting (in Bethon, using graphics processing units), with the exact balance determined by the candidate’s background and interests. The mathematical tools concerned will include the analysis of the matrix, improvement, the analysis of backward errors, the theory of the status number, the high -dimensional analysis (the concentration of measurement) and the random account.
Register for some high -quality and/or publications, as well as coding skills (for example in Matlab, Python, C) necessary. You will also collaborate closely with a second doctoral researcher, who will be appointed later in the year, a group of doctoral students, and a group of visiting experts. Communication skills are necessary for this project, as the results will be developed in cooperation with the developers of artificial intelligence, ultimate users and organizers, and with colleagues’ comments on morals, law, social sciences and creative arts.
It will be part of the pioneering computer mathematics and mathematics group in Edinburgh, providing a friendly and vital research environment. You will also have access to generous travel allowance that will enable you to present your work in national and international conferences. There is room for a strong candidate to form a research direction.

- The research experience and some publications in at least one of the numerical/scientific computing analysis wow Amnesty International algorithms
- The enthusiasm for investigation and measuring weaknesses in the current artificial intelligence systems
- Academic writing and communication skills are excellent
