Researcher (part -time, fixed period) at the University of Nottingham

After the fixed range

Applications are invited to an enthusiastic researcher to join the Faculty of Medicine and support an exciting study led by Dr. Natalie Shur “” investigating mechanisms for improving knee pain in individuals who suffer from obesity underweight: an experimental study on changing the micro -radiation environment and metabolism. “

This project, with funding from the BMA Foundation, Doris Hillier Grant, aims to investigate mechanisms in which he is improved by weight loss of knee pain in individuals who are recently described from the Betbid -1 (GLP -1) receptors. The study will achieve changes in knee pain and a longitudinal function in patients underweight, as well as the thickness of the cartilage in the knee and steroid using magnetic resonance imaging, inflammatory vital signs, and the exact environment of synovial fluids in a sub -group of individuals. Advanced imaging techniques, metabolic evaluation, and protein analysis will be used. By studying both biological mechanical processes and metabolism, this research will provide new visions about mechanisms that drive to relieve pain and may be reported from future non -surgical treatment strategies for knee arthritis.

About the role

The search assistant will play a major role in:

  • Collect longitudinal data via online scanning
  • Record the participants and current study visits, including the acquisition of photography and assistance with the collection of biological samples.
  • Data management accurately and integrity.
  • Contribute to advanced imaging analysis (MRI, spectral analysis, structural muscle ultrasound).
  • Support data analysis, manuscript preparation, and display results.

It will work in a multidisciplinary environment with doctors and muscles and bones stationed in the academic unit of injury, recovery and inflammation (IRIS) and physicists working in the Sir Peter Mansfield imaging center. The publication will be of particular importance for people who want to develop their experience in muscle and muscle research.

The role is presented on a part -time basis over 18 months at 0.5FTE, however we will accept FTE higher. Please select your favorite hours in your app. This post is presented on a specific basis.

About you

We are looking for a candidate:

  • Very organized with excellent attention to details.
  • Creating effectively with human research participants.
  • Interested in muscle and bone health, obesity, photography, and metabolic science.
  • It is keen to contribute to highly influencing research on real clinical importance.

You must have BSC or antagonist experience in health -related discipline (physical therapy, mathematical sciences, exercise, clinical sciences, anatomy) and an experience in a variety of quantitative research methodologies that include human participants. The desired additional criteria include a master’s degree in a relevant subject, for example, sports medicine and practice of medicine or work towards a doctorate in the field of relevant subject.
