It will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Dr. Vibi Alan group of the University of Birmingham (UOB), and in cooperation with scientists from the College of Minerals and Materials at UOB, Diamond Light Source, National Nuclear Laboratory, Sellafield Ltd and Henry Royce Institute. It will work through the boundaries of chemistry and materials to provide new materials and knowledge, while developing a wide range of modern scientific skills that apply directly to the job in academic or industry.
Role summary
The role involves:
- Work within the project team for the Epsrc project “The compound ion-ion-for the treatment of nuclear waste.”
- Chemical research for experimental materials to investigate mechanical properties and the structure of ionic ionic exchange materials using mechanical test, X -ray and calculated tomography and the development of the structure of the kingdom.
- Working through the limits of discipline for materials and chemistry science and Synchrotron science with the support of the broader project team to develop new and improved materials.
