Post -PhD research colleague in the flexibility led by the citizen and the sustainability of networks at Salvord University

an opportunity:

Salford Business School is proud of a vibrant international community. We are pioneers in redefining education and its role in forming the future and the world around us. Industry cooperation, knowledge transfer partnerships, research partnerships, international exchanges, student opportunities, and awareness activities – these are just some ways we communicate and work together.

We are seeking a very ambitious and excited research colleague to join our research team in sustainable systems and societies. The researcher will focus on the modeling of the resources of the flexibility led by the consumer (such as the V2G EVS and the batteries) at the network/sub -society level, with a focus on understanding the challenges of the distribution network and evaluating the impact of incentives mechanisms on both consumers and distribution system operators.

Role:

This role is essential in progressing our research on self -societies, local energy neighborhoods, consumer -based flexibility, and building on national initiatives such as clean energy 2030, future energy scenarios, and smart charging priorities in OffGem and V2X. The role will include the development and application of advanced modeling frameworks to capture the flexibility that the consumer leads to each of the levels of distribution and sub -distribution.

The researcher will design and operate simulation studies to evaluate the technical and economic effects of various distributed energy resources, including electric cars, car technologies to everything, heat pumps, batteries, solar energy generation, and storing the community, to operate the local network. One of the main focus is to examine how incentive structures and different market mechanisms affect, such as dynamic tariffs, local flexibility services, complex -based models, and the effect on consumer participation and system performance. This work will also address network challenges, including congestion management, voltage stability, and the possibility of postponing the costly reinforcement. The researcher will conduct scenario analyzes and allergy analysis in line with the goals of national policy, especially clean energy 2030 and NESO paths to zero. In addition to artistic research, the researcher is expected to produce high -quality academic publications and find policies, while contributing activity in the projects of Ukrai and Europe in Europe. Participation with the distribution network operators, industry partners, local communities and experimental partners will be an integral part of ensuring translation of modeling visions into evidence -based practical solutions. The post -pregnant holder will work and present it to the leadership of the project, and it will be required:

  • To support the project leadership to provide the Drive2X project.
  • To manage research projects and contribute to the projects that others offer in the team as required.
  • To manage and analyze data collection and analyze as required.
  • To develop, create and care for partnerships with a group of stakeholders.
  • To work through specializations in developing and delivering projects with internal, external, local and international partners.
  • To provide results and publish research results in high -quality academic and non -academic outputs
  • Performing any other duties that may be required from time to time by the project.

We hope to bring:

  • Doctorate in energy systems, modeling of energy systems, or a close field.
  • Strong experience in the moderation of the distribution network, improvement or simulation.
  • The ability to design the resources of the consumer -led flexibility (EVS, storage, response from demand, heat electrification) showed.
  • Infinter with energy markets and structures incentives for flexibility.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills (such as Bethon, Matlab, power system simulation platforms).
  • Evidence of high -quality publications and the ability to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with V2X/V2G modeling and smart shipping frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the organizational drivers and policies that constitute the flexibility led by the UK consumer.
