Researcher Assistant/Assistant in unbalanced turbulent flows on coarse walls (fixed term) at Cambridge University
Location: Cambridge Central
There is a position, for a researcher/participant in the Engineering Department, to work on unbalanced turbulent flows on the coarse walls.
The mail holder will be in central Cambridge, Cambridgers, UK.
The main responsibilities and duties are direct numerical simulations of turbulent flows on coarse surfaces under unbalanced conditions, including surface insecurity and developing advanced flow conditions. Simulation will extend a set of Rynolds numbers, scope sizes and surface -to -roof. The project aims to simulate, understand, describe and mix the effect of the surface roughness on the wall disorder when out of balance. The focus will be particularly on determining whether there is any form of similar flow through different rough surfaces, and if the concepts derived from our understanding of balance flows, such as the function of roughness and the roughness of equivalent grains, still apply in any way under unequal conditions. The project is Ukroy’s collaboration with Virginia Tech, and the use of direct numerical simulation, modeling and analysis of experimental data from the Virginia Tech team will be used. The appointed person is expected to play an active role in cooperation with the project partners, as well as in cooperation with doctoral students and guidance.
The successful applicant must have (or to be about to obtain) a relevant doctorate in fluid mechanics from the Department of Engineering, Mathematics or Physics, and a strong background in theoretical and accounting fluid mechanics, and a strong understanding of numerical analysis and familiarity with analytical tools. They should also have knowledge and experience in parallel coding and spectral methods. They must have a well -written English language and they should be able to cooperate effectively within the research group and out.
The appointment at the level of the researcher is based on obtaining a doctorate degree. If the appointed has been submitted but has not yet obtained a doctorate degree, they will be appointed to the level of the auxiliary assistant, which will be modified to the research partner once a doctorate is awarded.
Salary ranges:
Research Assistant: 33,002 pounds sterling – 35,608 pounds sterling
Researcher: 37,694 pounds sterling – 46,049 pounds
Specified range: The money of this post is available for 24 months in the first place.
