The Economic Performance Center seeks to appoint a full -time research assistant (“before DOC”) in the work program for one year.

Under Professor Stephen Machin, the roles holder will help in a number of projects related to labor markets and labor market policy. The role will help clean, integrate and prepare large data sources for modeling and analysis. The search assistant will focus primarily on data and initial analysis under instructions from the research supervisor and will help in the form of the analysis fields clearly defined.

A successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in economics or other quantitative discipline. They must also hold a master’s degree in economics or other quantitative scientific discipline, and the master’s level should qualify to enter the doctoral program and must be completed according to the start date.

Basic criteria include: a bachelor’s degree in economics or other quantitative discipline that will be completed according to the post -start date. Advanced experience to use Stata or similar programs to analyze large -scale small data collections. The ability to conduct literature reviews and search for data sources. The ability to explain and analyze patterns or trends in data. The ability to perform data that requires great accuracy and pay attention to detail. The ability to think through economic problems analytically and identify the appropriate methods of economic investigation. The ability to work independently, without close supervision. Classified and pronounced communication skills are excellent. The ability to transfer complex technical materials in simple and clear phrases.
