Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the new smart data service (IMAGO: https://imago.ac.uk/), One of the family services funded by the Smart Data Research program in ESRC. The University of Liverpool leads, in partnership with Newcastle University. We aim to transform the possibility of use radically, benefit, and use of satellite images in social sciences, public health and policy -making. It will work with the team and cooperate with data, distribution and applications to cancel the capabilities of satellite images to solve some of the most urgent challenges facing the United Kingdom – especially when it comes to prosperity, luxury and sustainability. You will develop the functioning of data processing and data products in various application fields such as green spaces, energy or air pollution.
It will work closely with the participant participant of the project, Dr. Maria Pipa, other academic founders within IMAGO, and the director of service (Professor. Tribas Bell, Liverpool University), as well as research software engineers and professional support staff, and they will be part of the fashion group, evidence and politics in Newcastle. The role in civilian engineering and geographical discipline will be in the College of Engineering. Civil and geographical engineering covers research and teaching in environmental and future mobility, spatial geographical engineering, geotechnical engineering and water engineering. You will have access to a set of ground monitoring and spatial geographical facilities, including drones, GNSS, laser scanners as well as a spectrum scale, to support calibration and health verification.

The main accountability
The successful applicant will work closely with the entire IMAGO team and a group of major partners, including the government, industry and academic society and will contribute to:
- Acquiring and developing the workflow of the satellite image and other spatial geographical data, including calibration and prior treatment when necessary.
- Conducting research using satellite images (such as the guard, Landsat, and high -precision commercial images) in the objective fields related to luxury, sustainability and prosperity.
- Working with research engineers and land control experts to explore, develop and publish automated learning models and deep learning applied to satellite images.
- Development of open data products to be used by the broader research and policy communities, as well as the IMAGO team.
- Contribute to the development of open source and educational materials.
- Development and writing of academic articles for publication in internationally popular magazines.
- Publish IMAGO results on artistic and non -technical audiences.
