Applications are invited to fill the position of Stfc PDRA at the College of Physical Sciences at the Open University. Our research covers a wide range of the science and exploring the solar system. We are looking at the origin and development of the solar system, through physical, geological, chemical and biological processes that drive it. We use laboratory and satellite task experiences, remote monitoring, environmental simulation and modeling to investigate surfaces and atmosphere of Earth’s planets, moon, asteroids, comets and materials outside the Earth.

The pregnant woman is expected to work independently but it will be part of the active chemistry research group (CRG). This work will include a new study to measure the distribution and the composition of light elements (C, N and noble gases) in a group of distinct meteorites through a mixture of Ioni Microprobe and gradual combustion techniques. To be effective in this role, a successful candidate will have a previous experience that can be clarified in the bitch/geological chemistry using standard petroleum tools, good efficiency with accurate analytical tools such as SEM/EPMA/ICP-MS/SIMS, and the path of a path installed in dealing with large and complex geological data groups to understand geological processes as shown in connection.

The successful result of this work will be a better understanding of the history of volatile elements in the first 10 mA of the solar system. This work represents an analytical challenge, and requires great skills and patience in treating rare and small samples, developing new SIM standards and protocols as required and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a modern laboratory environment.
