Applications are invited to fill the position of researcher to work as part of the main landscape renewal center (CLR).

CLR is an ambitious research program that aims to provide the knowledge and tools needed to renew the British countryside using effective -based on -cost solutions. The strength of ecosystems will be harnessed to provide extensive societal benefits, including the recovery of biological diversity, climate mitigation and adaptation. The postal holder will work closely with Professor Andrew Frend and the broader CLR team. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of CLR activities, departments and university, including seminars, teaching and interactions with a group of research groups.

A successful candidate will make a major contribution to assessing how alternative land management practices affect greenhouse gas flows by developing and applying advanced modeling tools. The work will include the development of models on the high -performance computing facility in Cambridge, where the current code is carried out.

Among other activities, the candidate will expand the model to treat various administrative interventions and the growth of peat, caries and interactions with horizontal water flows. This work will be supported by notes on the site of greenhouse gas flows and hydrological information carried out by other members of the CLR team through the three landscapes, including our UK partners.

Listing candidates should have a background in simulation modeling and the ability to connect the results. They should have got, or will soon get a doctorate (or have equivalent experience). Candidates who have a background in environmental or relevant sciences in particular are encouraged to apply, but we will also consider those who have other digital backgrounds as in computer science or mathematics (pure or applied) or engineering. The successful applicant will be very excited, and has excellent management in time, a busy record in delivering project outputs; It is required to try an effective multidisciplinary team.

Salary domains: Associate researcher: 37,694 pounds, 46,049 pounds (grade 7). The appointment at the level of the researcher is based on obtaining a doctorate degree. Those who presented a doctorate will be appointed but not yet received as a researcher (grade 5, point 38 – 34,610 pounds) who move to a researcher (grade 7) when confirming the doctoral award.
