Like students, they conclude Scool yearAbout 9 months later, I am also 9 months after rebuilding after this painful knee injury, forcing me to run for 7 months last year. After this theorizing on the first of July, the surgeon recommended two months of recovery. Here is the summary of my new return to running.

Month 1

While I managed to walk for miles across Paris during the Olympic Games in August, and I could not wait to return to running in September, I still remember the extent of frustration and painful in the first weeks, to the point that there were several days when I had to return after running only a third of miles, due to the pain. However, by the end of September, I had visited the route for the marathon race at 3:42: slowly and painfully but only to prove that I am still able to cover the distance.

218 km. Slow miles. A lot of pain remains during and after running. A- But “a great work to return to the saddle!”

Month 2

After 6 weeks, I did my first race, half a marathon in France, and while I won my age group, I was barely happy with my time 1:33:45. By the way, I felt less pain than knee pain from Anfami so that the progress was mechanically. Two weeks later, I had decent experience in the ice marathon race in my club, as I ranked third in general and the third in my age group, albeit in my competitive field.
271 km in 18 runs. 1 3:31 Marathon in the track. C+ “You have not returned to the previous yourself yet, but we notice your sensitivity.”

Month 3

In November, he dared flying to citizens 24 hours a day. Again, while I won my age group, being the only M60-65 that appears, I was painfully covered by 100,000 in 12 hours, with a lot of walking, proving that there was more work to rebuild muscles. After 5 days, 39:26 decent in The Turkey Trot, which is enough to take the third place in my age group.
327 km, most of them thanks to 101 km in OX fat. 3 Marathon in the Path at 3:24, 3:17 and 3:09. for-

Month 4

The most prominent thing in the month of December was to win the category of life from Palo Alto, the saboteur with 40:36 10K, followed by less than an hour of 20:08 5K. The first experience of this race. After not racing for a period of 9 months, it was good to get some results, enough to apply for the Fededids silver award.
136 km, and both of them are due to doubts due to continuous knee pain, as well as a family trip to Panama where it was difficult to run. C+ “A lot of vacation, keep focus!”

Month 5

With the new year, new hopes and expectations came, more than the decisions that I have never expressed, which are wise. The first race of our grand prize race, half hand. Challenge without any hill training for a year, yixes! Third place in my age group, I will really have to work on this glut …
211 km. 12 runs including one race and 2 track exercises with Bob. B- “All this quick work will take fruits!”

Month 6

On the first day, the traditional Jed Smith ran 50k. It holds a large pace for 35 thousand, under 7:15, passing a mark marathon at 3:11, then struggles, unable to break 4 (4:04). However, I was comfortable to run this classic again, in difficult weather conditions, no less. A great family holiday in Saint Lucia, although a bad place to record miles (See the blog).
196 km in 11 runs. Not a lot of progress. C+ “We have already said what we thought about a vacation …”

7 month

With a longer month, and more focus, I recorded a distance of 309 km and 2 races: Big Bunny 5K in my backyard, and KnickerBocker 35K that provided some hill training as well as a good preview of the departments that we will run in Cool Moon 100 in June. Even my Ultra Trail Run grip since 2023.
309 km. Strong action. B “It is good to see you return to hard work!”

Month 8

April witnessed two other race. First, 50 thousand were improved in the citizens of Wisconsin (3:51), good enough to get a title/correction 22. Then Horschu Lake 35K as it managed to maintain a more competitive field. Long work throughout the month.
308 km. Faster miles. B+ “noticeable improvements, good work!”

9 month

May has always been a big month in our grand prize race, when we are used to having 3 difficult difficult in the schedule during 3 consecutive weekends: Miwok 100k, Quicksilver 50 miles, OHLONE 50K and Silver State 50 miles! While we slightly reduced, although Quicksilver is now 100,000 in order to remain qualified for Western states, Silver State moved to June due to the issuance of this year. The bottom line, I can only focus on Quicksilver where you are happy to finish less than 12 hours. And most importantly, I operated 7 Ultras in May, including 100 miles local weekends. More importantly, with a little remaining knee pain, but enough so that you are not very excited and keep discipline to include rest days and stretch time.
610 km over 18 runs (13 days of rest). A- “The super voltage, a great return, and we feel that you can do better!”

total

I will admit that I am still very unfamiliar and comfortable with the AF classification scale. I have grown up underSuch a strict scoring system and demands 0-20, or the base or system, where teachers felt that they may be very generous if distributing grades that exceed 10, which was supposed to be average …
My second bias is that I still have a problem in age as an excuse for slowing down. So I am still in the game of competition and trying to keep up with young people. The dangerous pursuit, although this is what kept me a lot on my toes in the 1940s and 1950s.
However, I am not sure that I can train on others, behind myself. Although others may give me A+ for the month of May, I will continue to chase greater and higher goals, while I also listen carefully to my body. I will just say that I likely know better than anyone else, what is the additional work that I can do to continue rebuilding muscles and endurance. Or perhaps my knee knows better, which is still whispering after arduous exercises … grumbling like a monkey on my shoulder … while the experience of N = 1 …
