Duisburg-Assen University provides scholarships for the “Political Ecological Ecological Ecology Economy” program.

The doctorate program examines social and economic inequality in causation of the climate crisis, improper effects of environmental damage, inequality in the context of alternative transformation strategies, and the distribution of costs and benefits of transformation. The research practice of the program is characterized by a multidisciplinary and applied social-economic approach. It merges the research of economic inequality, political economy and economic sociology, as well as the current speeches of economic, social and political reform.

Up to eight doctoral scholarships will be awarded as part of the Hans Boeckler program, funded by Hans Boekler, at the Institute of Social Economy and the Institute of Labor, Skills and Training (IAQ) at Duisburg-Assen (UDE). The first start date is June 1, 2026.

Applicants are expected to have a cumulative rate higher than average and a busy record of social, political, union or social participation. The previous requirement for the application is to know the German language at the B2 level, at the beginning of the program.
