Contract type: A fixed term (30 months)

We are seeking a very excited research colleague to join the Aston Institute for Environmental Technologies (AIPT), one of the world’s leading optical research centers. This role is part of a project funded by the European Union (engineering designed with sensor structure and telecommunications to describe the tectonic structure and the description of the infrastructure- https://ECSTATICOSCT.EU/It aims to push the limits of optical fiber sensor in the current communications network and benefit from the solutions that AI moved to discover events in actual time and monitor infrastructure. A successful candidate will be at the forefront of merging advanced visual techniques with machine learning techniques to develop high -performance optical fiber sensors.

You will be responsible for the application of visual sensor technologies distributed and validated in the orgasm, such as the new distributed audio sensing (DAS), on the communications fibers next to the path, about the state of monitoring the state of railway infrastructure, with a focus on both the structure (for example) and the railway system (EG Sleeper), the sleeper). This includes driving and implementing laboratory structural tests, conducting field monitoring, and developing data processing to detect and connect damage.
