About the situation:
Shadi Hill School seeks to have experienced and skillful literacy teachers who hold the Orton Gillingham certificate at the auxiliary or higher level to work with students at the lower school (grades before kindergarten -4) on the basis of the watch. We are looking for teachers who bring an approach focusing on a student, multi -sensitive, respondent to develop reading education and can design support for individual learning needs. Lesson sessions will focus on constituent literacy skills, including sound awareness, decoder, coding, and fluency. Lessons sessions may be scheduled during the school day and/or after school, depending on the needs of students and the availability of the teacher. This is a part -time position. This position is not qualified to obtain advantages.
Educational approach:
Teachers trained at Orton-Gillingham bring a set of educational methods: some of them tend to be more formal and unique, while others take a more flexible approach and relationship. In Shady Hill, we are looking for a teacher who reflects his practice of our commitment to teaching centered on the child and suitable for growth. The ideal candidate brings warmth, ability to adapt and a deep appreciation for the unique learning trip to each child, which creates a supportive environment as students feel vision, ability and empowerment.
Basic responsibilities:
- Conducting individual lessons sessions with lower school students
- Plan for lessons sessions to meet the specific learning goals
- Documenting the goals of the teaching session, achievements and future goals
- Cooperation with the educational resources team and the semester teachers to determine, track and address weaknesses
- Providing updates on students’ progress and continuous focus areas with parents and teachers as necessary
Qualifications:
- Orton-Gilllingham Certificate at the Assistant level or higher (teachers ’certificate does not meet the classroom alone with requirements)
- 3-5 years of previous experience support early literacy development in individual settings or a small group
- A strong understanding of organized literacy and reading science
- Maher in the use of multiple senses, explicit and methodological instructions to support reading, spelling and writing
- Experience with the tools of Mohushi progress (such as Dibels, Past, Running Records)
- Success showed a discrimination on education to meet a group of learning profiles
- The ability to design attractive and targeted lessons that build student confidence and establishment skills
- Strong communication and cooperation skills
- A clear understanding of diversity and cultural efficiency through previous work with the diverse population
- Capable of building trust relationships with students, families and teachers
- Maintains the learner’s mentality and the approach to solving problems for new challenges
