About xjtlu

In 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool (XJTLU) was established by Liverpool University and Xianan Jiaotong-of the Top Ten University in China. Xjtlu offers a unique international educational experience, combining excellent research practice with experiences from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure jobs in a global market. Xjtlu now has more than 25,000 students registered in both Suzhou and Liverpool in the United Kingdom, with plans to grow to about 28,000 students by 2025. There are currently about 2000 employees, including about 1,000 faculty members, with almost a division between the citizens of the Republic of China and international employees. Xjtlu provides our university students and work more than 100 programs with a variety of courses.

Xjtlu enters a new and exciting stage of its development as part of its strategic priorities during the next ten years. Adoption of a new model for higher education that depends on the concept of education (SE), Xjtlu currently opens a new site for education in Taicang, which is part of the wider suzhou, where Entrepreneur (Taicang) is located. Taicang will be a pioneer on future and educational campus in facing the challenges arising from the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Other new initiatives include new business partnerships with Xi’an Jiaotong University, the continuous development of the new four academies, and the exploration of other potential sites to develop a SE model.

Focusing on innovative learning and teaching, and research, Xjtlu depends on the strengths of its mother universities, and plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to China to the United Kingdom and other institutional partners. At the same time, Xjtlu explores future education by mixing educational theory and best practices and culture from the West and East.

About the Applied Linguistics Department

The Applied Linguistics Department is a dense research environment with two MA programs, which also contributes to the course of linguistics on four UG programs. We recently created a laboratory for language and awareness research, for linguistic and sound research, with eye -tracking technology.

Linguistics in Xjtlu is a rapidly expanding area. We seek the qualifications of a colleague/dynamic and enthusiastic colleague with the qualifications of research, teaching and excellent supervision that will contribute to the research file in the department. We are specifically looking for candidates who bring knowledge and visions from the fields of mathematical linguistics and the treatment of natural language. The concentration or direction of mathematical linguistic research is open, and the successful candidate will appear innovative approaches and be able to enhance multidisciplinary participation.

Responsibilities and duties

The appointed person is expected to contribute to the ministry’s research profile and must have an excellent record of publication in their field of research, which is suitable for their career. The ability and willingness to contribute to or lead the cooperative research projects and multiplicity will be a strong advantage.

With regard to teaching, the successful candidate must be able to contribute new elements in the current stereotypes related to mathematical linguistics and AI, and develop new units in mathematical linguistics and related fields. In addition to their specific area, the successful candidate must be able to contribute widely to the university program, including at least in two of the following: Introduction to Linguistics: Discourse, English as a World Language, History of English, Language and Society, Conferences and pragmatism, language, language, communication between cultures, and communication with the virtual language (AI) education. It is also expected to anticipate contributing to academic management.

Employees usually teach 1-1.5 units (s) in the semester, depending on the number of students. Typical contact hours about 6 hours a week.

Basic qualifications/experience

• Doctorate degree or equivalent in linguistics, or relevant discipline is necessary.
• A busy record or high search capabilities, suitable for professional stage is necessary.
• Teaching experience in the higher education environment is necessary
• The experience of teaching and supervising the level of graduate studies is very desirable
• Technology experience or Amnesty International learning is desirable.
• Preparing to interact with artificial intelligence in the science of teaching assets is essential.

Citizenship and visa regulations

Employment is organized at the University of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool under Chinese labor laws, and must comply with the district government regulations. These regulations provide for a qualification for legal work regarding obtaining work permits and visas.
