In this post:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an advanced multidisciplinary project at the intersection of microbiology, animal health and agricultural robots. In cooperation between the University of Liverpool and AG Products Ltd. , It will play a major role in assessing the effect of independent automatic bed unit (ARC) on dairy health.

This project aims to reduce environmental mastitis in dairy herds by improving the cleanliness of the cabin through the sensor -based automation. By contributing to this research, it will be at the forefront of microorganism, which helps to enhance animal care, reduce the use of antibiotics, and support the most sustainable dairy industry. You will work alongside Dr. Joe near me and a professor. Rob Smith, livestock research leaders with an excellent record of directing professional researchers early.

The publication is available for up to 12 months with the start date of 5Y January 2026.

Role

As a post -PhD colleague, you will lead the microbiological aspects of the project. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting bacterial culture experiments in the laboratory to determine how the temperature and humidity affect the growth of the causes of diseases that cause breast inflammation.
  • Performing environmental samples on the farm from dairy compartments and wiping a nipple to collect data in the real world.
  • Evaluation of the relationship between the cleanliness of the cabin, the cleanliness of the nipple, and the quality of milk in general.
  • Data analysis and contribute to writing publications reviewed by the peers and conference shows.
  • Cooperating closely with our project partners, including engineers and veterinarians, to assess the effectiveness of the AG Arc machine.

About you

This position is perfectly suitable for the microbiologist with strong laboratory skills and interest in animal health research.

Basic standards:

  • Doctorate degree in microbiology, veterinary microbiology, or a close field.
  • An experiment installed in the techniques of the microbiological laboratory, including bacterial culture and molecular methods such as PCR.
  • A busy post and strong scientific writing skills.
  • The ability to work independently and cooperate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Prepare to travel to commercial farms to take samples and collect data.

Desired standards:

  • The experience of working with livestock, especially dairy cattle.
  • A degree in veterinary medicine (MRCVS or its equivalent).
  • Infintering with environmental sampling techniques and evaluating milk quality.

If you are still waiting for your doctorate degree to grant, you will be appointed in the sixth grade, spine point 30. When confirming my book that you got a doctorate degree, your salary will be increased to grade 7, spine point 31.
