In this post:

Tyler School of Arts and Architecture invites requests for a associate or full professor to work as head of the art department that begins in the fall of 2026. We are looking for a prominent artist and teacher that brings vision, experience, administrative skills and imagination to lead a large and multi -faceted section.

The successful candidate will retain a master’s degree in a master’s degree or a degree of reward and has a record of research and teaching that is in line with one or more areas of the program in the art department: ceramic, fiber, material studies, glass, minerals/jewelry/CAD, drawing, photography, printing and sculpting. We are looking for a prominent artist/researcher and teacher who will be a participating presence in the campus and will enhance the culture of cooperation through disciplines. The candidate will have a wide knowledge of historical and contemporary technical practices, as well as understanding critical and theoretical issues in this field. They will have the expertise, ability and commitment shown in student education and directly directing them with a wide range of levels of experience in BFA and MFA studio programs.

We are looking for an artist whose work proves curiosity and active participation with the ways in which art reflects and intersects with our largest common culture. Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership in a successful achievement to see the administration and its priorities and academic guidance.

  • Supervising the development of curricula and program reviews.

  • Supporting the research of faculty, teaching and creative activity.

  • Management of faculty members, including directing faculty members.

  • Management of the training course and the employment of faculty members.

  • Teaching graduate and graduate studies courses in the Arts Department.

  • Conducting scientific and creative research and maintaining a strong record of exhibitions and/or publications.

  • Find external financing to support research activities.

  • His teacher and advice to students from different backgrounds.

  • Contribute to the service of departments, colleges and university.

Qualifications:

You must have a master’s degree in business management or a degree in appropriate discipline, a professional achievement record, distinguished in teaching and scholarships. A dedicated commitment to create comprehensive spaces that can be accessed for students. Experience and desire to teach and direct students from different backgrounds. The ability to communicate and work effectively, collectively, and cooperative with students, faculty and administrators. At least 10 years of teaching experience at the college level full time and at least five years in a leadership role, or what is equivalent, preferred.

This position includes the leadership of the Arts Department as a president for a full five -year, teaching at BFA and MFA levels within the department and through the school. The work burden consists of an administrative component, education, creative research and work, and a service for the program, department and college.

The salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
