Context and mission
We are looking for a gifted post -doctoral and motivated doctorate researcher to join our team for the prestigious Elliot Horizon Eurobe project. Elliot is a prominent initiative of 25 million euros, a four -year duration with 30 partners in 12 countries, dedicated to progress in the next generation of Multimodal Generals (MGFMS) models. This project will be effective in facing the complex challenges in the modeling of the Earth system and environmental monitoring by taking advantage of the leading infrastructure in Europe (HPC), including Marestrum’s BSC, Lumi, JuPiter and Leonardo. A successful candidate will play a decisive role in developing and improving the functions of machine learning work to analyze large -scale environmental data, which contributes to creating strong and generalized climate science models. This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of machine learning, high -performance computing, and climate research, within a vibrant research environment.
Main duties
Cooperation in training and controlling the large -scale multimedia basic models for the Earth’s system data. Create and implement converters for basic models to effectively process and understand the various spatial environmental data flows. Developing energy -saving variables and calculating for the basic basis models for publication on HPC platforms. Contribute to the establishment of open source data collections, pipelines and research tools that can be repeated for the scientific community. Cooperation with a multidisciplinary team from BSC researchers and Elliot Federation. Publishing research results in magazines and higher scientific conferences. requirements
PhD education in computer science, data science, computational environmental science, or a relevant field. Basic knowledge and professional experience know the basis models, adaptation techniques, and the development of models (models development in Pytorch, swallowing multimedia data, HPC knowledge, etc.) with deep learning models, especially in the context of data collections on a large scale. The experience of working with the data of the environmental system or the Earth system (satellite images, re -analysis data, etc., the ability to provide and experience in reporting and managing European Union projects. Communication and collective communication skills, with a high level of efficiency in the English language. Development of the recruitment process
The selection will be made through the competitive examination system (“Concurso-Oposición”). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

The employment committee will consist of at least three people, ensuring that women are represented at least 25 %.
According to the principles of OTM-R, a balanced gender employment plate is formed for each vacant function at the beginning of the process.
