We are seeking a skilled and dedicated policy professional to join research and influence services at the University of Bath (RIS) with our progress in participating in politics.

About the role
Our Research and Impact Services Department (RIS) supports a full search life cycle – from financing requests and submission of projects to exchanging knowledge, influence and marketing. With the leadership of participating in politics, it will be in a pivotal role in the heart of this work, which allows our research to access and influence policymakers at the national and international levels.
This is an exciting opportunity to form and present the university’s strategy to participate in politics. You will design and supervise activity programs that enhance access to our research and impact, and support our colleagues throughout the university to actively engage with political decision -makers.
Policy participation is an important part of the research cycle for researchers throughout the university. This post provides an exciting opportunity to share enthusiastic skilled policy to work in all university colleges and with their colleagues from professional services to include the culture of understanding and political support operations that would reduce the capabilities of researchers and provide a meaningful impact.
About you
By working closely with the President of Public Affairs, the Policy Research Institute (IPR) and colleagues throughout the university, contacts will mediate between bathroom experts and policy professionals, which increases the vision and influence of our research. It will also ensure that the infrastructure to support and evaluate policy participation is coherent, accessible and design to meet the needs of researchers.
You will play a major role in developing infrastructure, support and training that enables effective participation in politics through the search life cycle – from early planning to capturing evidence of influence and sharing success stories.
We are looking for a person with:
- A firm background in politics and stakeholders, with an excellent understanding of how to inform the evidence to make policies in different contexts.
- The experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in politics at regional, national and/or international levels.
- Trust and experience to interact with senior leaders, policy makers and practitioners
- Strong analysis and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and persuaded information.
- Cooperative approach focuses on the team with the ability to lead projects from pregnancy to delivery.

This position is presented on a part -time basis, permanent (0.6 FTE).
The role may include accidental travel in the United Kingdom and abroad to represent the university in conferences and political events.
