1 Profile candidate and position range

The Marino Education Institute (MIE) is searching for the Secretary of the Library of Teaching, Communication and Premium Participation to join the team in the MIE Library, located in the heart of Griffith Street. The library’s mission is to enable personal, educational and vocational growth for its members through a set of services, technologies, groups and employees who support educational goals, learning and research in the institute.

The appointed candidate will cooperate with colleagues through teaching, systems and user services to provide comprehensive educational experiences focusing on students and raising the clarity of library services and their impact through effective awareness and communication. The main focus of this role will be to increase students’ participation with the library through relevant, creative and response activities and communications. As part of a coherent and supportive team, they will develop teaching and communication initiatives that enhance learning, enhance communication, and contribute to a vibrant academic society.

Basic qualifications and skills (That is, those without them, the candidate will not be able to do the task. Applications that have not clearly proven that the candidates have the basic requirements will not be included in the brief list):

  • Recatch for postgraduate studies in library and information science from an accredited program from the Library Association (or its equivalent).
  • Related experience for at least two years in an academic library or research, including experience in awareness, teaching, communications or research support.
  • A strong understanding of the role of academic libraries in supporting learning, teaching and research, and awareness of the broader scene of information in higher education.
  • Excellent communication and personal skills, including experience in designing and providing instructions, training, writing or providing various audiences.
  • Strong digital reading and writing skills and information technology skills, with a practical approach to using technology to enhance services and user participation.
  • The ability to build partnerships with academic departments, student services or other campus groups showed.
  • The ability to work independently and cooperative has been proven within a small team directed towards service.

Desired qualifications and experience:

2. Job description

The reporting relationship

The appointed must carry out the duties associated with the position, under the general direction of the head of the library services who are told and those responsible for performing these duties in the first place. The appointed will submit a report through the head of the library services to the head of the institute and/or other MIE officers, such as the president who may be appointed by the president from time to time.

Reports relationship may be subject to periodic review, in line with the needs of service and developments at the institute.

Duties and responsibilities

The Secretary of the Teaching, Communication and Participation Library will be responsible for:

Awareness and communications library:

  • It leads to the direction of the library, workshops and events.
  • Promote the library awareness efforts to enhance library resources, services and events.
  • Create and maintain material offers for the library and online evidence for resources to exploit and enhance new and current groups.
  • Promotion and marketing of the MIE library profile, internally and externally, using a set of technology and curricula, including social media, conferences, open college days and publications.
  • Participate in the meetings of departments, committees and working groups, when necessary, to understand and support the academic and strategic goals of departments and schools.

Information Instructions Information:

  • Developing and facilitating and evaluating information literacy sessions for students, faculty and researchers to enhance their research skills and understand the library resources, whether face to face or online.
  • Design, creation and maintenance of educational programs via the Internet, educational materials and research evidence to support literacy competencies and research in information in cooperation with other departments and their colleagues in libraries.
  • Providing individual consultations for in -depth research support and guidance.
  • Helping students, faculty and researchers in conducting effective and comprehensive research, including searching for databases, managing the quotation, and accessing specialized resources.
  • To engage in continuous communication with academic departments and faculty members to ensure the corresponding of the library instructions with the curricula and research needs of the institution.

Group Development:

  • Cooperation with colleagues of the library to choose materials that support curricula and research in the academic community.
  • Contribute to the regular evaluation and evaluation of the importance, diversity and currency of library groups.

Administrative duties:

  • Helping beneficiaries in the office with inquiries related to the use of material and digital resources and facilities.

It should be noted that in each work area/section within the institute, the appointed should work as part of a team. Although the duties related to participation are widely defined under the different addresses as included, the list of duties is not comprehensive. The appointed will be asked to work in a flexible and college. MIE reserves the right to appoint new duties and/or reset employees to other areas of the institute, in response to service needs.

3. The application, the selection process and others Information.

How to choose to recommend

A brief list of applicants will be based on the applicant’s qualifications, the extent of suitability and relevant work experience as detailed in the application. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all relevant information is included in its application and that they clearly determine how to meet the norms specified.

The interview will be by the interview committee, which consists of less than 3 people, and it will be one of the most suitable people and eligible to evaluate the applicants in the discipline. All appointments are made to work in MIE by the Board of Directors. The recommendations of the interview committee will be submitted to appoint successful applicants for all jobs to the MIE board of directors to consider and their decision.

In the event that a recommendation regarding the permanent appointment by the interview committee is not submitted, the institute reserves the right to appoint an appropriate candidate, which was identified through the selection process, to the publication on the basis of a fixed period.

A panel can be created by which you can fill in permanent or fixed contract dates for this position during the age of the plate. The committee will stop exist after 12 months of the date of its formation, which will be the date of the initial interview.

Candidates must provide satisfactory documentary evidence of all the training and experience that it is demanding, if necessary.

Test period

The appointment is undergoing a period of 6 -month test period. The test period may be extended according to the institute’s estimate, but it will not exceed 12 months. Absence during the test period will extend the test period. Performance and behavior will be monitored during the test period through the evaluation meetings process. The completion of the work during the test period will be at the estimation of the institute. A brief copy of the disciplinary procedure will be applied to employees under observation.

The examination

All successful applicants may be asked to participate in the Garda examination. Specific instructions on this process will be given in a timely manner. Applicants who do not comply with the institute’s requirements in this regard will be excluded from considering the appointment.
