What is What will you do?

The University of Canterberry invites applications for a full -time (permanent) academic center (permanent) at the record level or a great lecturer in the product of the product design, within the field of research for digital products design.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative school at its beginning and contribute to the formation of a new multidisciplinary program. Bachelor’s degree in product design is slightly more than third design courses, slightly less than science and engineering courses, and one sixth work sessions. The first amount of students to design digital products was in 2024 and students will enter the third and last year of their studies in February 2026. The program is currently growing.

Mōu | Who are you

We are looking for experienced applicants in any specialties related to human design, user experience design, web platform techniques, or user interface design, with a strong focus on digital products design. Successful candidate:

  • Get a doctorate in a related field
  • Show a strong record of teaching, research or creative design
  • Show a commitment to excellence in teaching basic design courses at both university levels and postgraduate studies
  • Establishing and leading a strong research program
  • Supervising university design projects, master’s and doctoral students
  • Cooperation through disciplines within the university
  • Contributing activity in the service of schools, faculty and university members
  • Building and maintaining links with the design industry locally, nationally and internationally.

The Product Design School is committed to excellence in teaching, research and creative practice at the forefront of product design, and the production of innovative and beginners graduates who can contribute to economic growth in New Zealand and social welfare. In addition to this role, our current technical team includes eight technical employees, including a game design specialist, while academic employees cover 23 industrial products design, digital products design, chemical drafting design, game development, game art, and animation. Multiple disciplinary cooperation is encouraged throughout the school and more widely throughout the university. We have a large number of students, from first year studies to master’s and doctorate, with a set of initial models skills.

We are constantly aimed at improving our teaching and research programs constantly by attracting and retaining academic employees and high skills support, expanding our facilities, developing our national and international ties with leading design schools and employers.

This role sits within the faculty members, the employees associated with the collective agreement of employees and support staff, and the following salary scale: the lecturer 94,181 dollars – 113,616 dollars; Big Lecturer $ 119,586 – 149,806 dollars, (2026 salary standards).
