uncovered
In the Department of Applied Physics, our leading research in physical sciences creates important industrial applications that bear great technological potential. Our research focuses on material physics; Quantum technology is a soft and living issue; And advanced energy solutions. Topics extend from basic research to important applications. We know future generations of research and development specialists; Data specialists; Technology experts; Inventors and scholars for industry and society.
Physics atomic scale Group Applied Physics Department Looking now for Doctorate Researcher (PhD) To obtain a degree in the field 2D Nanodifis and intense material physics (especially in low -dimensional materials).
The student will work on the limits of low -dimensional quantum materials with modern experimental techniques, including Nanoscopic devices with two -dimensional materials and Low temperature of microscopy tunnel (STM) in a world -famous group that has experience in these technologies and materials.
Your role and goals
The goal of a doctoral researcher is to study e -phenomena arising in two -dimensional materials by microscopic examination of the portal survey (STM). The typical examples of these materials include the dichalcogenide transition, MOTT insulators, magnetic horsemones, multiple treatment, etc., etc.
Your tasks will include:
- Manufacture of nanoparticles in clean room facilities (stone printing, deposit, peeling and transporting two -dimensional materials).
- Description of two -dimensional materials using spectral analysis Raman, AFM, and relevant techniques.
- The integration of these devices in low -temperature STM experiments.
- Cooperation with the group members and theoretical partners/international accounting.
Your experience and aspirations
- Master’s degree in the field of intense material physics or a close field.
- Current skills and knowledge in the nanic electronic device and processing the clean room for two -dimensional (required) materials.
- Skills of dealing with low -temperature and developed void systems, such as the experience of the molecular package (MBE) or STM experience, are a reward.
- The ability to work independently and as part of an international and multidisciplinary research group.
- Attention in the physical extensive material physics.
- Excellent leadership for English. Finnish language is not required.
The chosen candidate needs to apply for a study in PhD studies at the Faculty of Science at Alto University. Please check the student information and admission criteria in Aalto PhD program in science Alto University.
What we offer
We are presenting a fully funded doctorate project for one talented doctorate researcher under the supervision of Dr. Ziying Wang in the Atomic Physics Group led by Professor Peter Lelgeroth. The group is currently consisting of 3 Oscars, post -doctoral researchers and 5 doctorate researchers. The group focuses on the study of physical phenomena in atomic microb it that is characterized by the use of scanning microscope and the microscopic microscope that is not connected to a wide range of systems such as heterogeneous structures on Van der and 2D materials.
The researcher’s doctoral position was initially occupied for two years. The contract lasts for another two years after reviewing success in the middle of the period. The annual work burden of faculty members at Aalto University is 1612 hours. Alto University follows the Finnish university salaries system. The start salary is about 2815 euros/month (total), and increases with the progress of a doctoral researcher in research and studies. The contract includes professional health care at Alto University.
We have a wide range of professional development opportunities that mean that you will grow and learn, and you have an opportunity to participate actively in employee training and development projects based on your interests and needs. There is great freedom in your role, and we have a flexible modern culture. We appreciate the balance between work, life and luxury in all aspects of life.
