This doctorate for 3.5 years is open to home applicants (UK). A successful candidate will receive an annual tax -exempt at a Ukraine rate (20,780 pounds for 2025/26, according to the annual height), and tuition fees will be paid. We expect the salary to increase every year. The start date is September 2026.

Plastic production and disposal generate about 1.8 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually, as an estimated 6.1 million tons of oceans enter. This increased demand for biomedic plastic as less emissions and decomposing alternatives. However, the widely -scale marketing of biological plastic faces environmental and economic challenges.

Current raw materials are bodies: edible crops such as corn and sugar cane food security concerns, while non -applicable waste such as wood chips or fruit scales compete with animal feed and vital energy uses. In addition, the biomass supply chain is complex and multiple, including farms, pre -processing facilities, and biological clips. The selection of raw materials, regional dynamics, treatment processes affects costs, energy use, and emissions.

This doctoral project will develop advanced mathematical models to face these consensual decision challenges, with a special focus on nanosilose production in the United Kingdom. By exploring different raw material options, supply chain compositions, and operating paths, research aims to identify strategies that enhance both sustainability and cost effectiveness. The results will be the designing a strong carbon supply chains that support the UK’s transition to a circular economy.

  1. The minimum grade of the higher second degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, or related discipline
  2. Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  3. The ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  4. Written and good communication skills
  5. The motivation to address sustainability and climate challenges in engineering

desirable:

  1. Experience with sports modeling, improvement techniques or supply chain analysis
  2. The basic knowledge of biological based materials, biological clips, or circular economics systems
  3. Previous research experience (for example, university or master’s project) related to engineering sustainability
  4. Evidence of teamwork and cooperation in academic or professional settings
