Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) The Energy and Resources Storage Department has the opening of the post -PhD world to join the team.
After the doctorate, an electrochemical engineering employee will conduct an experimental work on the electrolysis/electromatic dioxide and/or other relevant electrochemical devices (including electrical creation) and its components in the energy conversion group in energy storage and division of resources distributed in the energy technology area. The work will require the manufacture of the membrane collection, testing, electrochemical measurements associated with materials, basic interface and component manufacturing (including catalyst, catalyst/electrolyte facades, membranes), integration and simulation. The job occupant will cooperate with research partners to develop and use new methods and diagnostic methods to determine the important performance barriers and durability of these electrochemical devices and the development of hypotheses and strategies to overcome them. In addition to testing the cell level and integrating it, the focus will be in particular on understanding electrical chemistry, heterogeneous interactions and the properties of component materials, including structure/function relationships through the scales of time and multiple length with a specific focus on the formation of the double electric layer.
What will you do:
Develop scientific research hypotheses and design effective experiments to verify the health of the electrochemical devices, including the CO2 and/or/or electrical creation devices.
Assembling and testing the pole membrane assembly devices (MEA) with many electrochemical technologies such as periodic voltamic, EIS, polarization curves and capacity shown to link material/device behaviors with electrochemical measurements.
Working with typical cell systems including H cells and electro -electrolyte electrolysis effects.
Do the basic description such as XPS, XRD, SEM/EDS, FIB-SEM, TEM, etc. and interpret and analyze data. Perform the spectroscopy of the website/Opendo such as the surface enhanced raman raman and XPS ampiter-Pussure (AP-XPS).
Manufacture the ink ink, electrodes, and membranes painted for mea devices.
The quantity and analysis of the precision invasive and liquid products using GC, HPLC, ICP-MS and/or MRI for CO2 Discounts/electrical creation products or deteriorating ingredients of Mea devices.
Apply the basic principles to deal with complex behaviors and address mea.
Conducting multi -physics simulation, water mixture and CO2 electrolyte.
