We are looking for an exceptional capacity to join the internationally famous Ministry of History as an assistant professor in the history of the Islamic world (early Middle Esse/Modern). The administration seeks to appoint a talented historian for the role of an assistant professor in the history of the Islamic world (Middle Essential/Modern early). We are especially excited to hear experienced applicants related to any or all the following topics: creativity, culture and heritage; Environmental human science; Medical or scientific human science; Social justice societies and politics; Or digital humanities. These topics are pivotal for research, financing and education of the administration and reflects the topics defined by the College of Arts and Humanities as a strategic task in responding to urgent global challenges. They are also subjects of real resonance in the modern world of Islam in the Middle Ages, and we look forward to hearing how applicants do these ties in their work.

The Ministry of History is widely recognized as a pioneering center for historical research and teaching, which was constantly classified among the most important departments of history in the United Kingdom and internationally (the fourth in the United Kingdom according to the full university guide in 2025, 36 in the world according to the rankings of the International QS University for 2025. The postal holder will join Durham colleagues whose work focuses on the world of Islam, including Christopher Bahl and Dizy Levingstone And Christina Reges.

Academic colleagues are supported to publish excellent research in their field of interest with a focus on high -quality outputs (including studies and magazine articles), instead of quantity. We aim to support your research needs, including practical assistance such as resources to attend conferences and finance research activities, as well as a generous research leave policy and a specific teacher.
