Leidos currently has the opening of a software test engineer to provide support for technical software engineering to test and integrate uninterrupted underwater vehicle programs (UUV) that deal with current and emerging maritime missions of a wide range of customers through many defense agencies. This full -time situation is in Linwood, Washington.

Basic responsibilities

• Be a major player in testing and producing autonomous underwater autonomous vehicles.
• Support the integration of programs on the production line by spreading design, tracking versions, and ensuring smooth training management.
• Development, refinement and operation of practical test procedures to verify the validity of software performance and a system.
• Capture and document the test results clearly, problems and visions to help the engineering team improve the product.
• Explore the challenges related to software as well as engineers and technicians, and learn directly from the complex real world systems.
• Maintaining and improving the test tools, environments and textual programs used in daily production and validation.
• Contribute to ideas to simplify the workflow and improve testing.
• Cooperation through engineering, production and QA teams to ensure that each vehicle meets ready -made standards for the task.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical/computer engineering or a related field; Or the equivalent of practical training experience.
• Infinitely with a life development cycle and basic testing practices.
• Comfort work in Linux environments and use command line tools.
• Basic programming skills (Bethon, Bash, or the like) for automation and exploring and repairing errors.
• Strong interest in detail with the ability to follow organized procedures.
• Written communication and clear pronouncement to document results and reporting issues.
• A mentality directed towards the team with the willingness to learn from experienced engineers.

• Exposure to robots, compact systems, or device/software integration.
• Network familiarity (TCP/IP, ZMQ, DDS, Can Bus, Comms serial) and error exploring tools.
• Practical experience with version control (GIT) and tracking issues (Jira).
• Attention to automation through text programming, Docker or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experiment to improving technical documents, test plans or work instructions.
• Pre -participation, manufacturing, or assembly support.
