Research topic: Ridge Bloom Interaction: Linking melting paths in the scarf with surface volcanic and environmental naval “highways” in Galapagus.

Applications are invited to a post-PhD researcher in the ninetelet/gyghymemology, to join a new project funded by NSF-RNC. The project aims to develop a transformative understanding of how to interact melting from the scarf column with the global medium hill system, the shape of surface volcanic and associated ecosystems. The Galápagos Islands provides a model environment to investigate these operations. By exploring Bloom Ridge reactions, the project will generate new visions in the formation of volcanic strains. These structures link modern hot points to the neighboring spread centers and in Galapagos as an environmental “sunken lines” that facilitate the migration of endangered marine species.

The project includes an international team of rock scientists, geophysical scientists and environmental scientists from Cambridge universities (S. Gibson), Pen State (T Galabagos.

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Earth Sciences at Cambridge University and will work closely with Professor Sally Gibson and all the participants in the research team. Sigreon is urban investigations and geochi analyzes, as well as numerical models to place new restrictions on the delivery of the depths of the deep depths to the global hills system. An additional post -PhD colleague has been appointed in geophysics in the same project in Pen State, and works on the physical models for the transfer of melting, which the candidate will interact with.

Applicants (or they are about to get) should have a doctorate degree in bid science and geological chemistry. The previous experience in the science of geyochemical analysis is required, and to know the numerical modeling of the melting of the scarf is desirable. The search will include the use of modern samples and analytical facilities in Cambridge (EG EPMA, La-IP-MS, QEMSCAN) and Edinburgh (SIMS). There are samples in firm groups and there will be an opportunity to participate in a research trip off Galápagos.

The successful candidate will be very excited, and has good communication skills, and perfectly a strong post record (suitable for their career stage). The results will be supported and encouraged and presented in international conferences, as well as participating in awareness activities. The successful applicant will be directed and supported in developing their professional and research interests by the main investigator and post -PhD University Academy.

Fixed range: The money of this post is available for 17 months in the first place, based on the last date of February 2026.

Salary ranges: Associate researcher: 37,694 pounds, 46,049 pounds (grade 7). The appointment at the level of the researcher is based on obtaining a doctorate degree. Those who presented a doctorate but have not yet received they will not be appointed at first as a researcher (grade 5, point 38 – 34,610 pounds), and moving to a colleague researcher (grade 7) when confirming the doctoral award.
