Are you enthusiastic about advanced audio and sustainability research? Do you want to help form the future of noise control of energy infrastructure? Join us at the University of Southampton as a research colleague in the multi -disciplinary project “Tone DowN: Objective and Sleeping Evaluation to reduce the noise of transformers with sustainable sustainable vocal materials”, with funding from the transfer of national electricity to the network (NGE).

This project aims to revolutionize relief of high -voltage energy transformers through development Vocal materials-Treatments based on Sustainable and permanent materials It can be re -equipped with existing transformer containers. The noise of transformers, especially its low -frequency academic components, constitute great challenges to the methods of traditional noise control. Vocal materials provide a promising alternative by breaking their vocal restrictions and enabling highly efficient and environmentally friendly noise control solutions.

As an essential part of the project team, it will work on

  • Design and testing new physical unit cells Designed to see the transformer containers.
  • Numerical modeling Using FEM/Beem technologies to evaluate Voice Performance Voice.
  • Experimental field/laboratory test One of the primary models is widely in transformer environments in the real world.
  • Human awareness assessment of sound quality The environmental effect of material designs, including longevity under external conditions.
  • Communication and publishing Research results through presentations at international conferences and high -quality magazine publications.

This post is located in the SPAT and hearing processing collection within the ISVR Institute (ISVR) at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. ISVR was at the forefront of research and education for more than 60 years. We have built an international reputation through pioneering academic research, strong and permanent cooperation with industry, and generations of skilled graduates who spread in the audio profession. We have excellent experimental facilities including a collection of sound rooms.

We welcome the applicants from various backgrounds who meet the following criteria:

  • Doctorate degree (or equivalent) in audio, mechanical engineering, physics, or a relevant field.
  • Knowledge and great practical and reliable experience in audio and/or vibration, supported by a detailed understanding.
  • The basic understanding and knowledge of numerical modeling using the limited element method/element.
  • Communication and teamwork skills are excellent.
