As a heart analyst, requirements play a role in my daily life. Many of the closest disorders to me, I am wire to think about daily activities in terms of requirements 😊

However, the requirements for transition are sometimes far -reaching, even for those of us with two decades of experience. But – they are the key to adoption!

Time of a fast little story

When my daughter went to her first school, we spent weeks in preparation; We got it on the back of a backpack, matching lunch, new school clothes, new shoes, a sleeping, and even we planned for a lunch and snacks menu! I even read the school booklet, several times! In 3.5 years; She spent her entire life with only three of us. She did not go to day care, so this was the first school -like experience, and we were all enthusiastic! However, in all this preparation, we neglected a major part of the information – we will not stay with it in school.

While we did not pursue her, with the excitement that rejoices from her eyes, she stated, “The mother, we will all get a lot of fun today!” At that moment, I knew that I had missed a major information that would have completely changed how the rest of the day went. Obus! And I did … it was amazing! Then you too!

In all my job preparation, I neglected to activate her new school experience. I completely missed the transfer of the main stakeholder!

Even with over 18 years of experience in managing requirements, I forgot what is clear. This is your invitation to work – don’t forget what is clear!

NFRS (non -functional requirements) is similar, as they are often missed in design and development processes.

As the name suggests, these are the requirements that will ensure a successful transition from the current state to the future state.

Why is it important?

Without a plan to move from the current state to the future state, adoption will definitely slow down if it does not stop completely. You may be as director of the product/project enthusiastic about this change, but excitement alone does not cross the finish line!

The transition (or deportation) may affect other units and businesses. For example, the customer may need to upgrade the current license agreement to move to a new solution. Are you waiting for their transfer? What is the waiting effect? Are there legal effects? Is additional training required?

In addition, on the most softening side of the transition, it is understanding Change curve. Especially when it comes to treatment or culture changes, transformations can be very difficult. People are comfortable creatures – i.e. familiarity creatures. The change is unfamiliar … it’s uncomfortable. A good understanding of the change of change can help ensure that there are no gaps in the plan and transitional requirements.

How is this related to the total value?

The value is achieved when the solution is adopted. It does not provide one transition requirement alone in general. However, the presence of the total plan and requirements “provides a qualitative value by ensuring a successful transition – which improves the value of adoption and achieve the value of the final solution.

The transition requirements should be defined only as soon as the final solution is known. You do not need to implement it completely, but it should be known.

Unlike job requirements (or stakeholders), it is not detected or mentioned by the works by business or users. For this reason, my favorite style to start with questions; To devise information to extract the requirements for moving from that information. It is important to have a list of questions that we must start, but also attending the discussion will help discover additional questions to reduce gaps and assumptions.

Some questions and follow -up questions were observed below:

  • Are there any gaps in the user skill that must be filled to run the new solution?
    • Is this a training that we can provide, or do we need external help?
    • What is the cost of this effort?
    • What kind of internal correspondence is required?
  • Is there any data that must be deported from the current system to the future system?
    • If so, how can this be done?
    • Replace all data? Only some data?
    • Should the data be transferred?
    • How long is it to prepare? Migrate? Check health?
    • Are there any regulatory requirements for data transmission?
    • What are the perfect time tables?
  • What is required to retire from the current solution?
    • Can it be turned off/eliminated?
      • Do you need the user accounts to cancel activation?
    • Is there a cost related to the termination (or early termination)?
    • Should the data be deleted? Can (contractual) be deleted?
  • What processes need to be changed to implement the new solution?
    • How/when will this process happen?
    • How/when will it be connected?

In addition, consider the differences between the two solutions/two countries. Then select some questions, even if they look silly, to help get information. Listed below a phrase
