Worksafebc looking for dynamism Director, Labor Relations To join our team and culture. This is an exciting opportunity to help form our approach to employee and employment relationships during the transformation period of change.

In this role, you will act as a reliable consultant for people and culture BosinSPartnerships, leadership and managers on a wide range of issues in the workplace, including grievances, arbitration, collective bargaining, performance management, human rights and investigations at the workplace. You will also represent Worksafebc in negotiations and arbitration, as it will be effective in preparing and developing our position on the bargaining table.

With a strong focus on building relationships, you will participate with union representatives, senior leaders and internal stakeholders to enhance constructive labor management relationships. At the same time, it will ensure the fair and consistent application of the collective agreement with the practice of discretionary power, governance and diplomacy in a complex trade union environment.

To achieve success in this role, you bring experience installed in labor relations in a complex environment and union, as well as strong knowledge of collective agreements, arbitration processes, and employment legislation. You are parallel and exceptional negotiator, with a clear ability to build positive relationships, move in sensitive issues, and manage them with professionalism and proper judgment.

This is a high -level role as it will achieve a meaningful effect by strengthening relationships, directing change and forming the future of work relationships in Worksafebc. It will be part of a cooperative organization based on the purpose committed to supporting workers and employers throughout the British Columbia.

Where will you do?

In Worksafebc, we offer a hybrid business model that combines work remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the situation.

In this role, you will work primarily from our office in Richmond with some flexibility to work from your home in BC

What will you do?

  • Providing expert guidance to leaders and teams on the interpretation of the collective agreement, grievances, discipline, residence, performance management, and relevant labor relations issues.
  • Worksafebc is represented in Sanvience and Senbration sessions, and the preparation of strong evidence and cooperation with the external advisor as required.
  • Leading or supporting the organization’s mass neglect efforts, including preparing bargaining positions, conducting research, negotiating agreements, and participating in bargaining committees.
  • Building strong and cooperative relationships with union representatives while protecting management rights and ensuring a positive business relations environment.
  • Support for emergency planning for basic services and preparedness for the strike.
  • The president or participating in the main joint committees, including investigations into bullying, harassment and decision -making.
  • Providing training, training and guidance for individuals, culture partners and managers to build organizational capabilities in labor relations.
  • Development of reports, briefing notes, and recommendations for the Supreme Command and the Board of Directors on complex labor relations issues.
  • Models constantly level of expected organizational behaviors from all Worksafebc: Responsible, respectable, fair, cooperative, responsibility, and thinking forward.

Is this suitable for you?

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Providing experience in labor and employment law, interpretation of collective agreement, and grievance/arbitration.
  • Be part of the mass bargaining, including preparing and presenting the position of the organization.
  • You have exceptional skills to communicate, negotiate and resolve conflicts with the ability to influence, persuade and build confidence with the diverse stakeholders.
  • Use the ruling and discretionary power to manage sensitive information and make sound decisions that can be defended under pressure.
  • Be cooperative, with a mentality directed towards service, as well as confidence to represent the interests of the organization with firmness and just.
  • Be adaptable and flexible in the movement of organizational change

Your background and your experience

  • A Law Or a bachelor’s degree with specialization In human resource management/ /Labor relations Or a related field and
  • 5 years of experience In a major role in human resources with experience in Labor relations and Labor and employment law (Including collective bargaining, policy development, arbitration/grievance solution) and
  • Being a strategic partner to work
  • Work experience in a union environment
